Immortals and G2 to IEM playoffs

Group A finished with two tight overtime games as Immortals beat Natus Vincere (19-15 on Mirage) and G2 beat Liquid (19-17 on Nuke) to grab the two remaining playoff spots.

With everything still in the air in group A, all six team started their deciding matches simultaneously. Immortals started on the CT side of Mirage and Ricardo "boltz" Prass's picked up three Five-Seven headshots on the second round force buy to quickly reset Natus Vincere and get the early map lead.

The CIS team managed to turn around a 3v5 situation in round 5 thanks to Egor "flamie" Vasilyev walking up A ramp and picking up two kills by himself, switching the momentum in his team's favor.

Natus Vincere continued with the aggressive style throughout the half, ending the Terrorist side with a 9-6 advantage.

Immortals managed to get to the playoffs over Na`Vi

At 7-12, Henrique "HEN1" Teles pulled out a pivotal 1v3 with the AWP that started a five round streak for the Brazilians. A fast B push caught Null element's defense off guard to make it 14-13 for Immortals, but they could only get to overtime as Ladislav "GuardiaN" Kovács displayed some vintage AWPing to shut them down.

In the MR3 overtime, Immortals managed a 3-0 Terrorist half and sealed the deal with the first CT round to make it 19-15—securing the second spot in group A and eliminating Natus Vincere from the tournament.

G2 had to wait until round 7 to get their first round on the T side of Nuke as shox picked up two AWP kills to open up the round and Adil "ScreaM" Benrlitom chipping in with two kills of his own to close out the round in the after plant.

The Frenchmen strung three rounds together, but lost a crucial post plant situation on B in round 11 that allowed Liquid to recover their momentum and economy—finishing the half 11-4.

Liquid will be biting themselves after letting the match on Nuke slip

G2 picked up the pistol and following two rounds to allow themselves a chance to come back in the match. Despite Cédric "RpK" Guipouy's lackluster performance over the whole map, the French side put up a rock-solid CT side powered by their star duo Richard "shox" Papillon and ScreaM to come back in the match and push it into overtime.

Despite starting the overtime with two Terrorist rounds, Liquid were once again unable to close out the match. After winning a low-buy CT round, G2 closed out the deal on the Terrorist side to win the match and grab the last playoff spot in group A.

Well, as i said many times NaVi clearly in need of real in game leader, they don't have team communication like felps infiltrated middle window dozen times still they didn't check it and s1mple should stop taking all his enemies lightly, he lost many rounds to his team because of this. zews added some heat to Liquid but we can't say its enough as they lost against G2, they should keep him and at least try Major with under his coaching. G2 surely has some problems in team but solution is not changing SmithZz, RpK or any player, its something about team spirit, they were playing like not believing theirself. Good luck Immortals and G2 at playoffs and day 2 matches looks interesting already.

Immortals should have topped the group, if only they didn't choke and hold B in D2 a single time they would have won the match, played really reallly really bad in that B hold. Astralis made the mid split B dozen times and yet they couldn't hold the site, even in ecos...

Elige dropping almost 40 in the game and it isn't enough. Man... Liquid should bring some new blood swapping jdm and hiko for someone like Tabsen and Gob b maybe. Or he should make a move for another team like Cloud9 and be in an unstoppable team.

FIRST RULE: RESPECT THE WINNER... SK is the best team in the history of CSGO who won two the most richest majors ever! And more to come. SECOND RULE: ACHIEVMENTS IN CS 1.6 MEANS NOTHING... The competition back then wasnt even existing, the tournaments were easy to win if you just play more than others... So no respect to players such as NEO, f0rest, GeT_Right and others... You had to win something important in CSGO firstly to be respected! THIRD RULE: WIN IS IN OUR NATURE! fnx won his first major when he was only 16 ! This is deserves respect. Accept is better for you!

+1, it's such a waste. He was the core stone of the team, the guy that they could always rely on. Yeah sure, they got amazing fire power with s1mple, but they lost much more than they won with the swap.
2016-11-17 05:40
I would have changed seized for Zeus, because he was rarely a top contributor to NaVi wins, but taking into account Edward's age, the most logical thing to do is to swap Edward for Zeus, probably. Or even some new blood like Angel...

2016-11-17 07:02
And again G2 are through thanks to ScreaM and shox. Just look at those stats: hltv.org/?pageid=181&eventid=2261 Among the teams that made it to the playoffs, only Immortals have 1 guy with a negative K-D. All the other "red" guys belong to the teams that failed to place at least 3rd in the groups. I mean, G2 are f*cked, only shox and ScreaM should be joining a new French superteam after their shuffle with nV (if it ever happens). RpK -17, bodyy -18, SmithZz -7. I know, shit happens, but when stats-wise RpK and bodyy turn out being worse than even SmithZz - it means that poor G2 won't do any more damage at this tournament - look at group B, there is no team that can lose to G2, even Heroic would rape G2. Dear G2, you won't make it to the LAN finals @ ECS 2 most likely, so no more offline tournaments for you this year - time to start convincing kennyS, apEX and NBK of joining you. Gratz to Astralis btw, I'm so happy to see them back, the more top teams there are - the more interesting tournaments there will be.

Bodyy and RpK were on fire at northern arena, and carried G2 to the final, and Smithzz is better and better every tournament Yeah Bodyy and RpK are shit here, but they can comeback in the playoffs, if they don't, it's probably over for them (maybe shox 1v5 every round ?), but so saying a team is shit and should disband every time a player fail a game I agree that a roster change is needed if we want a french team top 1, but this G2 can make deep run in huge tournament if they find a way of playing that fits them (like in may), or if they're all on point. G2 isn't in a good position and have problems, but they're not fucked.

Yes because only KDA mean something, you can throw away strats, calls, stuff, game sense, etc...You should not make conclusion with only KDA stats, you better analyze players themselves, teamplay, etc...before judging them. That said, I've seen some stress on Bodyy and others on some clutches (like the last 1v1 with Scream, he was so scared), they are under pressure for sure. Smithzz did some great things but he's not very consistent.
2016-11-17 15:23
CS is a bit less complicated than some persons try to describe it. I mean, you can be whatever genius in setting up strats, but you also need to kill your enemies to win rounds, otherwise it won't work, you can even plant a bomb without shooting at anybody, but you won't keep the plant without killing your enemies. Both shox and ScreaM were hitting shots yesterday and they made it out of their group, but what if one of them tomorrow won't be as good as he was yesterday? Yeah, either bodyy or RpK or both will be forced to carry, and hopefully for G2 they will be able to, otherwise any team from group b will defeat them. You can't always rely on your two star players, they're humans, not robots, and they have their bad days/weeks sometimes. When was the last match of bodyy or RpK carrying G2 to the victory? I don't remember any...

Bodyy did during the northern arena, he's getting better imo. For RpK I don't know, the "tank" is not very consistent... I was just saying that judging them by only looking at the KDA is a bit weak, and should consider other points, even if at the end it means killing your opponent to win. If the competition was played on an aim map, KDA would have a better mean for sure :) Other than that I agree with you.

Oh and btw - Na`Vi are so fucked up, they kicked Zeus days befor Valve made an announcement about banning coaches' ability to talk midrounds, Na`Vi wanted to have 5 fraggers and a calling coach, but Valve said "not in this life" and Na`Vi were forced to use seized as an IGL, although everybody knows seized is terrible at calling. I mean, kick somebody and pick ANGE1, you do need a proper IGL.
