friberg: Playing more to my strengths

After NiP became IEM Oakland semi-finalists with a comfortable win against Immortals, we talked to Adam "friberg" Friberg about NiP's shaky group stage, the FaZe semi-final, and explored the subject of casters criticizing players.

Placing third in Group B after losses to FaZe and SK, NiP were put up against Immortals in the IEM Oakland quarter-finals and earned the semi-finals spot with ease.

Our next interview from Oakland features Adam "friberg" Friberg, who talked about NiP's journey at the $300,000 event so far and his improvement over the last few months. He also shared his views on casters criticizing and ridiculing players:

What he mean is whether he plays good or bad, it is usual for them and if they did their best and still lose somehow, they are okay with it. Friberg feel like he did his job well, whether he kills a lot or not.

I get one thought when listening to this. When people start playing good after a long streak of bad performances, they always say they start to play within their comfort zone again or play to their strengths or what ever. What the fuck have they been doing outside their comfort zone then in the first place? I really cant understand why you would let your team mates push you outside your comfort zone?
2016-11-20 14:36
Because going outside of your comfort zone in anything is a way to learn/discover new things and to experience growth, it's true for any field. Of course the downside is that it's a lot harder outside of your comfort zone than inside, but if you do it properly, you end up expanding your comfort zone so that what was once outside of it is now inside. Hopefully for friberg it's the case.

It very rarely happens in CSGO history that a player goes from average, to bad, to good. Usually in this game, its too hard to turn around a low streak so to speak. I actually think hes just speaking out of his arse. He just had a couple of good games and there is no more to it. But maybe thats just my thoughts. :P
2016-11-20 15:31
A transition from the comfort zone to outside of it or inside of it is not necessarily reflected on stats. You can have a tough time outside of your comfort zone and still put up good numbers, it really depends on what was outside of it in the first place. Maybe friberg is talking nonsense just because he feels he has to answer the question, that's hard to determine without talking to him, but that wouldn't change the mechanisms of the comfort zone though.

Of course not, youre right. Im just personally dismissing it as a valid explanation of why he is playing better now.
2016-11-20 15:38
Well I guess we'll see. If he consistently performs well there may be some truth to it after all.
2016-11-20 15:41

Congratulations after 1-2 year, he finally played 1 good game, suddenly people ride his cock
2016-11-20 15:40
1 good game? Look at his stats, They are pretty good, even though hes not always top fragging, hes still doing hes job. But yeah you probably never watch games and just assumes.
2016-11-20 17:06
Yea look at xantares stats, top 1. He is the best player in the world atm. Idiot. You probably never watched friberg in those 2 years of horrible performances, and suddenly people praise him after a couple of games.
2016-11-20 17:20
ofc I did, But he has been good the last few months, and he had his up and downs during those months. I belive friberg can be a great player again.
2016-11-20 17:47

I didn't like when friberg talked trash prior to the FaZe-NiP game... I hope they don't promote this kind of behavior even though that the promoter seemed to like this kind of "bullying"/trash talking!
