NiP to IEM final over FaZe

The second semifinal of the day went all the way to the decider map. It was NiP taking the lead after an OT win on Nuke, 19-15, and a dominating FaZe running away with Train, 16-6. Finally, the Ninjas were able to shut FaZe's comeback down for a 16-13 win and a berth in the final.

The match started out on NiP’s pick Nuke, but the first round the way of their rivals, FaZe, who were able to defuse the Swedes' plant. The first gun round went to NiP as they were able to get an early plant and defend it on the 4vs5 afterplant. The European combine didn’t waste any time though and won a forcebuy to take the 3-1 lead. NiP on a forcebuy on their own took over the lower site through exterior and ramp, though, to bring it within one.

A huge play by Finn "karrigan" Andersen getting three scout kills on B site kept FaZe ahead early in the half, although NiP were quick not only to respond but to tie it up, 4-4, and then quickly start to run away with the half, constantly abusing ramp and secret to get behind FaZe’s defenses to take the half 10-5.

NiP took the early lead after winning Nuke in OT

Just like NiP had a great side attacking, FaZe were also relentless in their terrorist side play, as walls of smoke were deployed on the outer area of the map allowing karrigan & co. to abuse the mid and late rounds with a lot of map control. After a terrorist-sided half going to FaZe, the map ended 15-15 and ready for overtime.

This time around NiP put up an incredibly solid defense winning all three of their rounds on the CT side. A bomb plant in the smoke next to doors in the lower site gave NiP an afterplant advantage which they were able to capitalize on as FaZe got absolutely obliterated as they ran into the site. With that clean overtime, the map ended 19-15.

The second map started out with FaZe defending on Train. They were able to win the pistol round as well as the first gun round, taking a 4-0 lead. Having planted several times, though, NiP had enough money for a buy on the fifth round, which they were able to take. However, FaZe were rightback at it, stopping NiP’s push on A for a 5-1 lead. Adam "friberg" Friberg had a great two kill play to get their team’s second on the board on the eighth round, which allowed NiP to get back in the game as FaZe had to get their money back in order with an eco.

FaZe dominated Train from beginning to end

Finally, FaZe got back into it late in the half to close it with a 10-5 lead before the switch and with good chances at taking the series into a third map. The second half sawFaZe only give up a single round to the Ninjas, to end 16-6, and propelling the match to a third and final map, Overpass.

After winning the pistol round and with 3-0 on the board, it looked like NiP were about to start running away on the board with the fourth, but a double by karrigan and a triple by Philip "aizy" Aistrup got FaZe on the board. The next round looked like it was going to the Ninjas, as the Swedes had four players alive and were about to plant, but a huge quad clutch by Fabien "kioShiMa" Fiey kept FaZe going. Both teams were fairly even in the early stages of the half, but it was finally NiP that were able to take a decent lead into the switch, 6-9, with a quad kill by Aleksi "allu" Jalli in the last round softening the blow.

The second half started well for NiP, as they were able to secure the pistol round and the first gun round, getting them on the fast track to winning the map. FaZe put together an in extremis buy when down 13-6, including a glass cannon by allu, and were able to get on the board in the second half.

FaZe strung a couple rounds together, getting to nine, but NiP got themselves just one away from match point. Getting into double digits, FaZe were in shot but with no margin of error. The Swedes quickly stopped FaZe on an A execute with an AWP double by Jacob "pyth" Mourujärvi to get on five match points. A last ditch effort got FaZe to 13 rounds, but NiP crushed FaZe’s comeback dreams securing Overpass 16-13 to make it to the finals against SK.

pyth's performance is like up and down, he is not consistent between two maps, on nuke he played okay, had nice impacts getting three key 3kills and doing lots of damage then he wants to role play james bond on train, if he gets consistent NiP won't regret choosing him back over maikel but so far I feel like maikel fits this team much more. Still in the end NiP won this was pleasure to watch all three maps and good luck to them against SK on final. Once again this is final with no group stage winner goes to and it proves that BO1 group matches makes no sense.

If winning a group stage meant you deserved a spot in the final why bother with playoffs at all?

Lmfao. They could easily have won 2-0. This doesn't show shit about group stages.
2016-11-21 02:13
Nip lost 1 pistol and eco round and won nuke they played better than faze overall
2016-11-21 02:16
still the fastest guy :D and yeah faze need some work to do, they've improved with karrigan as igl :D gl NiP in the final :D

KIO WAS THE PROBLEM 4HEAD XDDD
2016-11-21 02:31
It's a shame FaZe couldn't close out nuke as they totally dominated train. Would have been an easy 2-0. On overpass they looked super weak on CT, definitely not their map... Anyways GZ to the Ninjas and best of luck in the finals! Regards, slowest_guy_on_hltv

NiP played more consistant CS than FaZe, that was most important in the clutch rounds. I'm just sayin Karrigan fucked up with this greedy push to downstairs to kill Get_Right. IMO NiP will be a bit tired to play good match against SK. It's gonna be 2-0 or 2-1 with just one competetive map, and the other ones ease for SK. Mark my words

One of the best series in recent months. Faze has improved so much, and karrigan can still make them better, it'll be a team to fear in the near future for sure. NiP is no match for SK atm doing the mistakes they made, if nothing changes in their gameplan, SK got this final in the bag.

This tournament has been amazing for CSGO honestly. NiP with friberg being on par (at least on par) being in the finals, giving all the naysayers something to think about. FaZe has shown incredible form with Karrigan on the team. Karrigan has even shown a lot of sides to himself he hasn't shown for a long while fragwise. Astralis didn't look like a total clownfiesta. They actually took SK close - and their "total rework" seems to already be paying off. It's awesome that "all" the teams are starting to gain form, the closer we get to the major. And with the retarded major seeding system, we can have insane games from the get go. It's a great time for CSGO!
2016-11-21 03:04
faze needs allu to perform in these kind of matches, he probably has the most important role
