Teams for DH Asia closed qual decided
The last four teams for DreamHack Masters Las Vegas Closed Asian Qualifier has been determined today via the conclusion of the open qualifiers hosted by SoStronk.
The closed qualifier will take place from December 3-4, which will feature eight teams in a online best-of-three single elimination bracket. They will fight it out until one team remains, who will compete at the main event in Las Vegas next year from February 15-19.
Tsogoo's TheMongolz through to the next stage with ease
In the East Asia qualifier, TheMongolz used Erdenedalai "maaRaa" Bayanbat to fill in the void left by Temuulen "Zilkenberg" Battulga's departure. The Mongolians faced YETTI in the grand final and captured both maps with a 16-6 scoreline on Mirage and Cobblestone.
Two closed qualifier spots were given to the South East Asia qualifier. The first semi-final showcased an all-Indonesian war between Hansel "BnTeT" Ferdinand's new team, Recca and his former team, nxl. Joining forces with Kevin "xccurate" Susanto in the fragging department, Recca crushed Richard "frgd" Permana's side 2-0 (16-2 de_mirage, 16-3 de_cache).
The Singaporean team, dream[S]cape recently replaced Mingyong "lUMBERJACK" Lee with Leapfrog's Alexandre "alecks" Salle, after finishing runners-up in the ROG Masters Asia Finals to TheMongolz. Unfortunately, they were easily dismantled by Thailand's Signature in the other semi-final in two straight maps (3-16 de_dust2, 7-16 de_mirage).
The final closed spot was obtained by 5POWER in the Chinese qualifier, as they emerged victorious over their fellow countrymen Born Of Fire in the grand final 2-0 (16-8 de_train, 16-12 de_mirage), with a closer second map score.
