OpTic 2-0 EnVyUs; to ECS grand final

Striker
December 11th, 2016 22:08

OpTic became the first finalists of ECS Season 2 with a straight-forward 2-0 victory over EnVyUs (Overpass 16-3, Nuke 16-12).

The first semi-final began on Overpass, OpTic's pick. The last time EnVyUs and OpTic played each other on the map was at ELEAGUE, where the North American team won 16-3, and this time wasn't any different.

OpTic came out on top of the pistol round as Terrorists, while the Frenchmen defended B cleanly in the buyround, but from there on EnVyUs rarely had a chance in any of the rounds.

Even in the rounds where nV got the opening kill, they couldn't turn it into a round win, as Peter "stanislaw" Jarguz's team grabbed a 10-1 lead. OpTic then tried to speed up the pace and ran into a strong defense on B, but once they slowed down again they went back to winning ways on the back of Keith "NAF" Markovic's solo triple in a disadvantage.

OpTic repeated their 16-3 win on Overpass from ELEAGUE

The half ended at 13-2 in their favor and they also turned a 2v4 situation around in the pistol round due to picking off the bomb in connector. EnVyUs then only won one of their desperate forcebuys due to Nathan "NBK-" Schmitt's double with a Deagle, while OpTic repeated the ELEAGUE result with a 16-3 victory.

EnVyUs got the better of the first several rounds of Nuke, as they picked up the pistol round as Terrorists as well as one of the first three gunrounds for a 5-2 lead. NAF's triple with a Deagle threw a wrench in nV's anti-eco, which gave OpTic two rounds, while Kenny "kennyS" Schrub's triple on lower put EnVyUs on 7-4.

However, with several solid defenses, mainly on the A bombsite, OpTic switched over with eight rounds. The North American side also turned the first pistol round around with an elaborate A split from heaven, main and squeaky, and survived the next two rounds.

The first gunround saw EnVyUs saving two weapons, while an A split from three sides put OpTic at 14-7 and yet another big turnaround on the A bombsite due to stanislaw's triple gave his team match point. Defending the next few attacks, including a scary 1v3 attempt from Will "RUSH" Wierzba, EnVyUs began clawing back, but another A split gave OpTic the 16-12 victory.

Definition of insanity: Do things the same way and expect different results That's the best description possible for Nv. They keep on letting happy bait them with no impact and refuse to change the system. They got rid of a decent player (kio), got devil and then removed him, and now the same thing will happen with sixer. Optic is looking so good atm tho. In my eyes they are like the old fnatic (on a budget).
2016-12-11 22:14
You're overhyping the fuck out of OpTic if you're already going to compare them to the old fnatic that absolutely dominated 2015. They've had 1 tournament win that you can even call legitimate, and even then they had an easy route to the finals at ELEAGUE. There are also asterisks with this tournament as well, so despite their good streak of form they're probably top 6/7 but definitely nowhere near top 1.

>on a budget I was hoping it would make clear that I was suggesting that their approach to the game is the same, yet they won't be able to go as far as the old-fnatic lineup when it comes to results. Guess it didn't. :\

2016-12-11 22:18
Nooo i just wanna see Device choking again in crucial moment and sinking his team as usual. So then he will be kicked and Valde will step in, so we will see best team world!
2016-12-11 22:21
But they always choke at semis so... :p
2016-12-11 22:22
True, but Sk is not the team they used to be
2016-12-11 22:24
yh but even NiP and VP lose to lower level teams so if sk has bad games, it's normal, i think because semis, they will put 100% to that game

The map pool was hugely favorable for Optic in this one. Envy NEVER EVER play Overpass, it's their worst map, wheareas Optic can play both Nuke & Overpass fairly well. Huge dispapointement nevertheless.
