NiP close DH Masters Las Vegas invites

The Swedish team NiP have been confirmed the last team invited to DreamHack Masters in the city of Las Vegas, NV, in February.

The Swedish side have just undergone the heavy blow of being eliminated in the Main Qualifier to the next Major, ELEAGUE’s million dollar tournament. Not all news are bad, though, as they will be at the MGM Grand in February to fight for the first DreamHack Masters title of the year.

NiP are the eighth and last team to be confirmed to the $450,000 tournament. The rest of the invited teams are Virtus.pro, Cloud9, Astralis, OpTic, ex-Dignitas, Natus Vincere, and SK

NiP will have time to reset before DH Masters Las Vegas

On top of the eight invited teams, eight more teams will make it through regional qualifiers. One of the qualifier teams to have made it through is the Chinese side TYLOO, while the other seven spots will be decided via the Europe and North America qualifiers.

The closed European qualifier, which will feature 4 spots at DH Masters Las Vegas, will be played on January 9. Eight teams from the open qualifiers and eight teams invited by the organization will face each other in a best-of-three single elimination bracket.

The North American qualifier will have three spots up for grabs. A single elimination open qualifier will be held on January 14, while a best-of-three single elimination closed qualifier will be played on January 15 with a 3rd place decider match.

DreamHack Masters Las Vegas will take place on February 15-19 at the MGM Grand, where 16 teams will fight for the $450,000 prize. The group stages will kick the tournament off on the casino floor, while the playoffs will be played out in the Grand Garden Arena.

Teams invited:

Teams qualified:

Thing is: NiP obviously got invited already before the major qualifier+they were strong all the way before the qualifier so one anomaly shouldn't make them lose their invite.

no thats a lie... nip got invited because they were the winners of the first dreamhack masters in malmo dont you remember?

that isn't the reason they got invited. they won two high tier tournaments in the last 3 months and placed semis and quarters in the rest of them apart from this qualifier so they obviously deserved invite

Mr kick friberg, what is your solution to NiPs problems? Kick friberg and add who?
2016-12-21 19:11
Imo the only way to fix NiP would be to add an actual IGL and then kick their worst player as long as the team can still play all roles. Dunno who their worst player is atm as Xizt is in game leading (maybe he really gets better without the role but I dont think so) and friberg plays better. The problem would be of course to find said IGL as I cannot name anyone right now. They could also change nothing but then I think they will become worse anyway because f0rest will cool down as he only is playing on such a good level when his team has a roster change. Easiest solution would of course be disbanding as I think that GeT_RiGhT will leave anyway to join TSM to play with sgares finally.

-Xist +dennis? Seems unrealistic though just as you said. I also think that they need to change something and maybe it should be more than the 5th players which they have changed several times, without any particular success (Major final loss against fnatic being best result?) Sounds wierd that GTR would want to play with the T3 team TSM but the whole C9 thing shows that it could happen. Probably not though? Hope I'm not getting baited, we'll see att January 1st.

I dont think that dennis is a good choice (as IGL, as fragger perfectly ofc) as he isnt even the IGL of his own team (at least last known IGL is twist after dennis trying it for a short time which should say enough). Maybe its really time to split up the core - I would love to see it. A nice roster I would like to see would be a shuffle with GODSENT: JW, flusha, pronax, GeT_RiGhT and f0rest. Wont happen of course because the GODSENT trio wouldnt play without znajder and f0rest without friberg but it would have all the roles sorted out and can be the #1 team. It wouldnt fix NiP but it would at least use their best players. I dont think that TSM will stay tier 3 with the team they have right now and would have if GeT_RiGhT really decides to join.

I don't know why people are overreacting to a harmless choke. You come back stronger and stronger and take it on the head. A true sign of championship winning teams is to take losses and come back fighting, not crumble at the slightest defeat. NiP can definitely take this tournament and it'll be a great return to form if they can win this as MANY Tier 1 teams are going to be their. come on NiP! Ignore the hate. Prove them all wrong and win this very high-ranking tournament.

Missing out on 500k $(potentially) is harmless? In what world is that so kind sir? And btw if those tier 1 teams play shit during the major they won't be tier1 anymore will they? It's 2 months away. How can you say that any team attending that event will be tier 1?

VP, Astralis, AK and Na'Vi are tier 1, are they not? And "harmless" in the context of it being still a "choke". Yes, it's a choke of high merits, but it's still a choke and not one to be judged by. Focusing on it isn't doing them any favours now, is it? Every team chokes and every team will choke as it's human nature, but the stature of a true championship team is taking losses and moving on from them. Again, this is an existential loss to be had, but a loss nevertheless. My apologies if it wasn't clear enough in my former post.
2016-12-21 18:57

Astralis choked during majors and everytime to NiP. Same thing applies here. They can qualify for the next one, can't they? Yes, the choke had high demand as it was the most important tournament of the year, but still a choke nonetheless. Stop focusing on the merit of the choke and focus on the future.
2016-12-21 18:47
A "choke" is losing with a great lead (13-5 in a match, 2-0 in the major qualifier for example). NiP wasnt choking, they just got raped. So lets just replace "choke" with "loss". This "harmless" loss wasnt harmless at all as they wont play the tenth CS:GO major after playing all nine before. This will also mean that they have to be in the top 2 of the next eu minor to qualify for the major qualifier where they have to get to the top 8 to qualify for the major. Its not even close to sure (see NiP vs Vega Squadron) that they will do it which means it could be possible that NiP will also not play the next major. Also this loss could mean that we F I N A L L Y see the core split apart as I am pretty sure that GeT_RiGhT will join TSM.

United Kingdom Jonty04l32
Harmless was used incorrectly, it was to compare the "choke" remaining so. Focusing on it will do no good, as you can only move on from these things. GeT_RiGhT unlikely to ever retire or leave his friends, for the matter, as he's still earning a substantial amount of money and it's his life. You cannot "just" retire or switch teams, it's obviously much more than that. Especially in GeT_RiGhT's case. Still doesn't prove my post to be bait now, does it?
2016-12-21 19:00
"GeT_RiGhT unlikely to ever retire or leave his friends[...]" hltv.org/news/16648-get-right-explains-c.. I am pretty sure that he would earn more in TSM. Also the contracts are over in NiP at the end of the year. "I don't know why people are overreacting to a harmless choke." #77, I explained it. You tried to make it look like a normal loss without any effect in the future. nt baiter

Lmao what would Gtr do in TSM ? Why would he leave his friends to play with some low tier NA team that cannot achieve anything ? A salary cannot replace fun and ppl you're really close to.
2016-12-21 23:56
You underrate TSM.
2016-12-22 01:11
Just compare NiP to TSM Top 5 + legendary 87-0 // Top 30 3 big titles in 2016 // Nothing Not qualified for Major // Failed at NA Minor + teaming up with ppl he doesn't or barely know... It sounds like you picked a random team and said "Hey, Get-Right will leave NiP and join this guys"
2016-12-22 01:16
That definition of choke isn't true. Choke means that when you are usually good, and for some reason you stutter in the middle of important situation, making you lose. I think GeT_RiGhT and friends won't be splitting any time soon. If you see friberg's Valve Biography, after their slump on 2015, they've decided not to play for winning, but just play for fun. In that way, any loss won't dissapoint them too much. Based on that, this fun shouldn't be hurt by skilled but toxic teammates. Their core is very, very chill and type that don't break their mouse and shouting while he and or teammates playing bad. Also I heard that GTR has gastric problem(?) so stress won't be friendly to him.

Thank you for finally clarifying that point to him. For some reason, he refuses to believe in what I'm saying and instantly regards it as baiting. Topic here proves this also: hltv.org/forum/1348541-happycrank Have a good day, rareguy.
2016-12-21 23:19
Thank you, I guess? There will be an opposite side, always, whether you like it or not. And confronting them with things, either facts or opinion, is useless unless they choose to believe in what you are saying. Consequently there will be also people that believe in what you're saying. I know you want to spread the truth, but 'truth' is different for each individual, so keep calm and continue your journey, ok? :)
2016-12-22 09:44
I would only call it choking when it happens repeatedly like back then Liquid in big leads, Astralis in semis, HR in major qualifiers right now Immortals in major qualifiers. The community tries to basically call everything in choke which cant be true. NiP was never known to choke in important games. This is something which happended for the first time therefore it just an upset for me. I dont think that loses will now dissapoint them less. Its not like they just lost a normal tournamentor something like that - they bombed out of the major qualifiers in such a strong fashion. This really could switch something imo. One year ago GTR was almost joining C9 because of sgares but it didnt work out because of contracts and tournaments. This time he will be free. Its bascally only a bold move with low chances which would make me look good when its actually happens so I will keep saying it. Also TSM with him wouldnt look that bad.
2016-12-22 01:09
At least with this news, we can confirm that NiP won't be disbanded until February. GTR's girlfriend probably will be also a factor to GTR's departure. LDR sucks, mate.

They couldn't qualify for the major, the most important tournament. Just wait until after the major, they will be out of top 16 by then. :)

They won't even lose enough points because of their inactivity to get out of top 10. Don't think the teams that don't go through GS will be better ranked than 'em. You're just one of those idiots who think having a bad tournament instantly means you're a tier 718 team ( and the fact this was the major MQ doesn't mean shit )

Except it wasn't just one tournament. Except one victory, they have been bad. You think winning one tournament makes them top 5? BTW it means that not only did they not win a tournament, they couldn't pass a LAN qualifier.
2016-12-23 04:53
Atm they're the only team who won two big titles since the off season. Cause' if you think you need to win more than one recent tournament to be top 5 then only NiP and Optic deserve top 5. Btw that LAN qualifier was prolly harder than the Majot itself will be ( + NiP made bad choices when picking maps. ) and NiP picked the bad moment to play like trash Anyway, the true reason they've been invited is DH needing the reigning champions to defend the throne
2016-12-23 12:46
All 8 invited teams won at least 1 big tournament in last 6 months, which really shows how the scene was unstable for the second part of 2016, great. Though I wish Navi and VP were attending lans more often.
2016-12-21 19:09
inb4 NIP wins this and wont change lineup cause they think "oh this time we got it" ...next event -> groupstage knockout xD
2016-12-21 19:13
NiP was invited because of their large fanbanse guys.
2016-12-21 19:15
NiP was invited because they are the defending champs of Dreamhack Masters
2016-12-23 23:52
As usual, DH sucks at invites. No FaZe or G2 invite, and 3 NA qualification spots, meaning 5 NA teams + SK. OpTic and C9 are enough NA at the moment, maybe Immortals there too.
2016-12-21 19:16
they invite with a good logic tbh. Teams with huge fanbases but a high chance to fail the online qualifier. They need VP, NIP and C9 but they are always good for a failed qualifer so they get straight invites, no matter what their current form is xD For the event itself its the best they can do, better teams with a lot of fans than a russian team which nobody knows.
2016-12-21 19:23
Yeah.. sucks == they invite based on the fan base, not on the recent form of the teams to ensure best competition.
2016-12-22 13:34
G2 lul
2016-12-21 19:26
Yea it's pretty dumb to have 3 NA spots when you've already invited SK C9 OpTic. IMT kinda deserves to be there, and it's possible Liquid can upset, but the other team won't be relevant at all probably. It's possible we might get a decent team out of the NA shuffles like if TSM turns out to be good, but I think EU teams deserve that slot more.
2016-12-21 19:29
this shitty team invited lmao
2016-12-21 19:19

WAIT WHAT?? NIP?? wtf? Im sorry, but there was many more teams that deserved an invite..., teams like G2 or FaZe, maybe even Godsent. EDIT: what i mean is that 1. NIP players contracts end soon. 2. NIP Played like horseshit at the qualifier for Eleague.
2016-12-21 19:27
I think it's because they won the last DH Masters. Not sure though!

These comments are funny. GUYS. NIP have won Malmo. Of they got invited. And by the way. NIP is the only team that won 3 big tourneys this year I think (no sure with this). Yep. They failed qualification and what? It doesn't make bad team from them.
