With WESG 2016 World Finals set to start, HLTV.org brings you a detailed viewer's guide with all the information about the format, groups, schedule and broadcasting talent.

WESG 2016 World Finals presented by AliPay will feature 23 instead of 24 teams due to GODSENT deciding to not attend the tournament at the last minute. The attending teams will be split into four groups and will play best-of-two matches in a round robin format.

XANTARES' Space Soldiers could make a deep run at WESG

When all the group stage matches are played, the first-placed teams from each group will advance directly to the quarterfinals, while the second and third-placed teams will face other second and third placed teams from other groups in the round-of-16.

The tournament will run from January 12-15, with the last day being reserved for the semi-finals, the third place decider match and the grand final.

With GODSENT pulling out of the tournament, the groups will be as follows:

Group A Group B Group C Group D

What do you Mean. Did u want all Europeans in same group, to make sure one asian team gets out of group?
2017-01-11 15:42
#46
 |
Croatia WhoIsRolezk1
Why not? Asians can see who is best at bigger LAN event :) Same with Major, put challengers and legends into different groups so legend status would have some value and legends can see who is worth the title
2017-01-11 15:58
#56
 |
Denmark DanishDelight
Then you would get nothing out of having legend status, except facing all the best teams at next major? :)

#59
 |
Croatia WhoIsRolezk1
Well you need to prove you are worth legend status? Ik it sounds crazy but if you put challengers to fight first before going to against legends it would show are they actually worth it Also there should be more teams at major, make it like 32 team event 8 per group also only 8 legends

If they're not ready, they have no place to be in a major, simple. The less teams, the more special event it is to attend

I do agree that it could be nice to make sure one asian team gets out of groups in such a big lan in asia, but you cannot give advantages to some teams like that, would not be fair

Yh i agree, but they could use that idea as beginning, and make it to be fair game for everyone :)

that shit makes no sense. That's why football teams for example fight to win Group Stage... They want 1st place to play against 2nd place from other groups, cause it's technically easier. or group format would be of no use.
