Astralis defeat OpTic, go 1-1

Astralis defeated OpTic on Train after a tight match, with a 16-12 scoreline. The Danish team is now 1-1, while OpTic is one defeat away from elimination.

After losing the first two rounds, OpTic decided to go in for an early buy on the Terrorist side of Train and won three critical rounds in the row that allowed them to get the early lead and the economic advantage.

The North American team kept the pressure up, getting to a 6-2 lead before Nicolai "device" Reedtz picked up a hat trick of kills and clutched the 1v1 against Oscar "mixwell" Cañellas. Astralis managed to get a couple of rounds, making the score 6-5, but lost a 5v2 advantage in the following one to OpTic's duo William "RUSH" Wierzba and mixwell.

The Danes secured the last couple of rounds of the half to get a 8-7 lead only to lose the lead shortly after, when their A site pistol round rush got decimated by OpTic's defense.

Peter "stanislaw" Jarguz's team won four rounds in a row, but the streak was broken by an Astralis B site hit which was opened up by device's AWP. That round seemed to have boosted the confidence of Astralis, who closed out the map 16-12 from the Terrorist side.

totally unfair draw, imagine if optic gets north right now...
2017-01-24 00:03
if botsent can utterly destroy astralis on train, optic should also be able to. if you wanna win, you should be able to defeat all teams.
2017-01-24 00:06
different teams are better on different days not saying i necessarily expected optic to win, but they deserve at least quarters
2017-01-24 00:07
they deserve whatever place the end up at. if they lose tomorrow, they deserve to go out. same with north and astralis or any other team for that matter :>
2017-01-24 00:08
So if optic plays vp, navi, and astralis and loses to them and goes 0-3, and flipsid3 plays liquid, hellraisers, and mousesports to go 3-0, both teams completely deserved that outcome? use ur brain
2017-01-24 00:09
Yes because they won their matches and the other team didn't? Hello? Like I said, if you wanna win, you should beat all other teams whether they are good or bad. Sure the draws were unlucky but it is not unfair. The team with a luckier draws in groupstage that "dont deserve" the spot, they'd get knocked out right after anyways.
2017-01-24 00:13
ok so if I participate in a tournament with me and my gold nova pug team, and the rest of the tournament has 3 other gold nova pug teams and 4 pro teams, and the pro teams play each other and I play the gold nova pug teams, did I do better than the pro teams by getting deeper into the tournament?
2017-01-24 00:13
No? You just had a lucky draw. You will get demolished once you reach the quarter-finals and meet the "better" teams. I wouldn't classify it is unfair because draws are random. Yes certain teams can be unlucky with their draws, but if you want to win a major you should be able to defeat the best teams.
2017-01-24 00:16
THE DRAWS BEING RANDOM AND SOME TEAMS HAVING HARDER TEAMS TO FACE THAN OTHERS IS LITERALLY WHAT UNFAIRNESS IS
2017-01-24 01:49
It's not unfair you fucking moron, it's unlucky. It's random. If it was unfair ELEAGUE would deliberately give OpTic the harder teams. Stop writing in caps you fucking annoying ass OpTic fan. Not my fault that OpTic can't win against worse teams (when looking at the rankings) hehe.

i mean if you get your legend spot by defeating f3, mouz and liquid it's quite unfair for the team who loses to vp astralis and for exemple north right ?

Really close game, it all came down to details. Optic got the perfect start for a really cool story "the team that got the hardest matches, overcame all adversity and ended up winning the major".. Given that they can chill and close out games lel
2017-01-24 00:04
with optic's luck they will get north -_-

North shouldnt be a problem for Optic, Optic has shown to be at a better level than North in the last time IMO :)

Yeah but still their luck has sucked this event Hopefully no more upsets happen so they can win out
