Astralis defeat Na`Vi in Atlanta

Astralis are through to the semi-finals at the ELEAGUE Major after beating Natus Vincere 2-1 (16-7 on Overpass, 14-16 on Mirage, and 16-10 on Dust2).

The first quarter-final at the ELEAGUE Major was between Natus Vincere who had a 3-0 record in the group stage and Astralis who finished their Swiss group campaign 3-2.

The first map was Overpass which was picked by Astralis. The Danes started on the T-side and took the A-site to win the pistol round. After winning the second and third rounds, Astralis turned around a 3vs5 situation to make it 4-0.

Aleksandr "s1mple" Kostyliev stepped up in the sixth round and got two kills as Natus Vincere secured their first round (5-1). Astralis reset their opponents in the next round and later extended their lead to 8-1. Egor "flamie" Vasilyev showed up with a Deagle triple kill and his team won the eco round (8-2). Astralis' reply was swift and they finished the half 12-3 ahead.

Astralis are the first semi-finalists

Ladislav "GuardiaN" Kovács and flamie's entry kills brought the pistol round to Natus Vincere but Peter "dupreeh" Rasmussen's 1vs2 clutch made the score 13-4. flamie responded with a quad-kill to put Natus Vincere back on the track (13-5). Markus "Kjaerbye" Kjærbye's triple kill stopped Na`Vi's three round streak and Nicolai "device" Reedtz's quad kill ended the map 16-7 in favor of Astralis.

The second map which was Na`Vi's pick was Mirage where the CIS team started on the T-side. flamie & company won the first five rounds of the map, repeating what Astralis did on Overpass. The ruthless beatdown continued until it was 7-0 when Astralis won their first round.

seized & co. make their exit

Denis "seized" Kostin clutched a 1vs2 in the following round to make it 8-1 but things went wrong for Natus Vincere after this point. Lukas "gla1ve" Rossander's 1vs2 made the score 4-9 and Astralis trailed 6-9 at the halftime.

Astralis kicked off their T-side with the pistol round win and went on to pick up the first weapon round, taking the lead (10-9). GuardiaN's triple kill tied the game at 10-10 but device secured the following round with an incredible quad-kill (11-10). A 3vs5 win by Astralis made the score 13-10 but Natus Vincere were able to come back and win the map 16-14.

The decider map was Dust2 and Natus Vincere started on the CT-side. Andreas "Xyp9x" Højsleth's quad kill and 1vs1 clutch ensured the pistol round win for the Danes. After controlling the game in the early stages, Astralis were caught by Natus Vincere who won the first half 8-7.

GuardiaN clutched a 1vs1 against device in the second half pistol round which extended his team's lead to 9-7. device's triple kill in the following round and Astralis took the lead after winning the anti-ecos (10-9). s1mple tied it up once again after clutching a 1vs2. Astralis took full control after this point and won the match 16-10.

lmao...Dude virtus pro in the majors I trust more than Astralis. They ALWAYS seem like they could win but choke. Even without Kerrigan I still say Astralis finds a way to lose this tournament, Virtus Pro Wins the major.
2017-01-27 22:25
VP is the most inconsistent team that has ever existed and they're getting old. Astralis has never had problems with VP as they've had with NaVi, it should've been a final for sure and many people agreed on that before the match started. It's not even gonna be exciting. Astralis has never been stronger than they are now and you can't really say that they "ALWAYS" choke since they've had major changes in their roster with glaive and Kjaebye. glaive raised their level SO much and he's controlling them nothing like karrigan did. It's basically a whole nother team at their first major. Rest is in the past :) But with your logic don't even try something twice if you failed the first time, no matter what kind of changes you do, because you're just gonna fail again.

although navi have proven to be strong this major and are likely to have been a the contender for the final, ppl r overhyping them way too much based off their performance in the group stages. as dupreeh said "we've done the same thing at previous Majors, just slaughtering everyone in group stages and then going into the playoffs being completely sloppy." gg

Everyone was expecting that Na`Vi will send Astralis to the stars on early final of major but they received astral disaster. Thats again showing raw firepower isn't enough without proper leader, gla1ve is like ultimate ingame leader you can have, he frags, he outsmarts his opponent and yet manages his team very well. Whats interesting is Astralis banned their best map (thou overpass also their second best map) instead of Na`Vi yet managed to beat them with almost making comeback on Na`Vi's pick.

Tbh I don't even care who wins the major right now. I don't like Navi so I'm glad they are out. I think that Astralis has the best chance tho, it will come down to Astralis vs SK. If they can beat Navi like that then they could do it to SK as well.

I can agree. But i don't think Astralis gonna win this major. Right now i think who will be on finals. VP, Fnatic and sk/Faze. Why do i think Fnatic got this? Well they started again like astralis, They sucked i really thought they are not gonna even get to quarters but they actually did and after i saw that gambit game all i can say is that they somehow boosted their performance to the next level. About VP i think they just have played so well overall. And when it comes to Faze/sk (which i think 50/50) is that they might find it better now when Bo3. This tournament is weird though.

I'm just wondering how can the top1 team in world according to hltv ranks only have 8% by pick'em players. Anyway in this bo3 we saw how guardian is overrated. Unbelieveble how he does stupid mistakes in crucial rounds and it's unreal how he is useless without an awp.
2017-01-27 20:12
Because a lot of people hate them and because people are easily blindsided by group stages. Also, Astralis did have a rep for choking.
2017-01-27 20:14
I think the reason is that: 1) NaVi smashed SK in group stage while Astralis lost to SK 2) Astralis' rep for choking 3) People overrating players like Guardian and s1mole But Yeah 8% is ridiculous...

2017-01-27 20:44
confident in them to make it. the second bracket is more stacked imo : if sk vin against faze, they can win against vp too, but its 50/50, but if faze goes to semis, i think they go straight to the final - when did vp beat them last? will be interesting to say the least.
2017-01-27 20:52
I mean, VP is truly consistent but SK had already proven that they reach another level when they are playing a major, we can have a final with SK vs VP and later against Astralis (whoever win)

astralis lucky cuz they have device(rat), that just hit an ez shots and na'vi aren't able just flash him and kill cuz their strats sux -seized(tard, worst IGL), -starix(he sould retire), Na'Vi has only firepower and it seemed they were a bit worried cuz crowd although they're not noobs or onliners, fuck groupstages if they can't win 98% game. If there will be no changes i won't be their fan. Zeus can do much better with less firepower, duck Na'Vi, RIP PICK-EM

i think GuardiaN Fallen much better with awp while dev1ce just hit an ez or b8ed shots, no sick flicks, they win cuz Na'Vi didn't even flashed him LUL, and his teammates support him much unlike GuardiaN, it's all about IGL, calling, strats that lacking Na'Vi

Turned dust2 around with the deagle kills. Nobody gives a shit about sick flicks, this guy performs at the same level for 3 years now. He is by far the most consistent player in the scene and a better player that both fallen and guardian. Stop the hate and be realistic

+1 Too many people overrate highlight-players like Guardian and shox and dont take into consideration how they perform as team players and gamesense-wise.
2017-01-27 20:26
calm down now, dev1ce is in a stable team same as guardian for like 3 years? You call the french scene stable? I agree dev1ce is a good player, very good but he is not CONSISTENT when it matters. comparing him to shox? gtfo lol, the man does is best plays when it matters the most and not only in this major but ALWAYS. Cant say the same about dev1ce since the only reason they were not the best team when they and fnatic were dominating imo a lot of it was due to dev1ce. Why? Because he was the star player when the team needed him the most he choked again and again and again. Plz no goldfish memory here, its the truth. Skill? yes dev1ce has a lot but dont compare him to players like shox who have done this their entire career. Or do you wanna compare Astralis player's with g2? lol the best player has to call lmao.
2017-01-27 23:21
dont see shox in top5 3 years in a row in hltv ranking lmao

Had a shitty pick em in group stage, I only got 6/7 teams advancing (had EnvyUS instead of Gambit), I got the 0-3 I picked Hell Raisers and Astralis didn't go 3-0 so I lost some points on that to but great way to start off today with Astralis winning easy 12 points.
2017-01-27 20:22
yes, Astralis! deserved and devve is a god as always it's really funny how people overrated NaVi because of some crappy bo1s Astralis 8% at pick ems such a joke, they are clearly the better team

Na'Vi made too many mistakes and their mid round calls were horrible... Anyway, this deserved to be the final. Grats to Astralis. GGWP to both teams.
2017-01-27 20:23
Deserved to be Final tf you talking about? This was Na'vi first test this major and they lost they don't deserve shit, they played group stage against mousesports, SK who has a stand in & EnvyUS, foh with they "deserve" they didn't deserve shit they had easy groups and lost to a better team in quarters if you can't admit that you are a stupid fanboy that should stfu.

Are you baiting or are you just retarded? I said that the game was worthy of a final, not that Na'Vi deserve to be in the final. Now go and learn some reading comprehension. Typical brainless HLTVer.

Yes, indeed. Na'Vi made more mistakes, that's why they lost. Doesn't change the fact, that these 3 maps (maybe minus Overpass) were super exciting to watch and it was WORTH to be a final. Not that it SHOULD be the final. Last major SK destroyed Liquid in 2-0 and both maps were very one sided (16-6, 16-7). So if that was a final of a major, how the game between Na'Vi and Astralis don't deserve to be one (if it was the case)? Please learn to understand what the fuck you are reading. Thanks.

Na`Vi were extremely bad, they should've lost it 0-2 but went extremely lucky instead. Edward should retire, Idk how he was regarded as a legend in 1.6 cuz he played like a retard, rushing alone with an AK against pistols and gifting that AK to enemies in the end. -Edward +Zeus/ANGE1 Btw I placed some 0.03$ worth shit on Astralis hoping to lose it...
