The rumoured French lineup consisting of three former EnVyUs players as well as three members of G2 has officially come to life under the Spanish organization.
Prior to the ELEAGUE Major, rumours of another French shuffle included the creation of a new lineup consisting of trios of the two best French teams, G2 and Envy, whose results had declined over the year.
The rumoured lineup included Dan "apEX" Madesclaire, Nathan "NBK-" Schmitt, and Kenny "kennyS" Schrub from the former EnVy team, as well as G2's Richard "shox" Papillon and Alexandre "bodyy" Pianaro who completed the starting roster, with Edouard "SmithZz" Dubourdeaux serving as the coach.
shox and kennyS join forces for the first time
At the time, it was unclear which organization the new team would join. Earlier today, G2 announced the acquisition of that roster following weeks of talks between the two parties.
The move leaves four players of the previous EnVy and G2 lineups, Adil "ScreaM" Benrlitom, Cédric "RpK" Guipouy, Vincent "Happy" Schopenhauer, and Christophe "SIXER" Xia, without a team. However, rumours suggest the last three mentioned have joined up in another new roster.
"The level of CS increases every day, I am a competitor and I will never be satisfied with second place. To win today, we must work with rage and passion on a daily basis, and always seek to excel, especially in difficult times. And we lacked these qualities in the second half of 2016." shox said in a statement given to G2.
“With a team and a coaching staff of this quality, our objectives are clearly to win, and especially to remain strong when we come across adversities. We have the ambition to put an end to the lack of stability of the French scene. We think we have the best elements to achieve our goals, and our hard work will help us along this journey."
"So far, everyone is extremely motivated and the newly-formed shox/kennyS combo is going to be a deadly one! Signing long-term contracts proves that we are committed to staying together and working on any issues that will happen along the way. The addition of SmithZz as coach – salute to his big decision to end his lengthy playing career – might be the extra thing that French teams have needed to never settle down and to stick together through thin and thick."
