North eliminate OpTic in Vegas

North have advanced to DreamHack Masters Las Vegas playoffs after defeating OpTic for 2-0 (16-2 on Nuke and 16-7 on Cobblestone)

The first map was Nuke and North started with an effective pistol round. Although OpTic bought in the 3rd round, the Danish squad had a 6 round streak until the North American won their first as Terrorists. Spencer "Hiko" Martin managed to win a 1v2 in the 9th round, but Philip "aizy" Aistrup's new team kept controlling the map and secured a 16-2 scoreline.

MSL had an impressive first map with 24 kills and a 122.5 ADR

Cobblestone was OpTic's pick. They started as Counter-Terrorists and almost secured the pistol but Kristian "k0nfig" Wienecke was able to clutch a 1v3. In the next round, him and Emil "Magisk" Reif did a 2v5 against a force buy, but when it came to picking guns in the 4th round, the North American continued to win until they had guaranteed a 4-3 result. From that point, and although the first half was a back and forth game, the Danish secured a three round lead after securing the 10th round.

As Counter-Terrorist, Mathias "MSL" Lauridsen had a triple kill and helped North win the pistol round. In the 19th round, it was aizy's turn to kill three as they win a semi-buy for a 12-7 scoreline, which led OpTic to save and lose the next two rounds. From that moment, the North American failed to win rounds and lost the game for a 16-7 scoreline.

Key moment: At the 5-4 score in favor of OpTic on Cobblestone, both teams would have had to save if they didn't win the 10th round. North managed to do it on the back of two entries by k0nfig and a great flank by MSL which eventually secured them a three round lead in the end of first half.

PotM: As you can check in our kill matrix, Kristian "k0nfig" Wienecke won all of his duels (including opening ones). He also clutched Cobblestone's first pistol 1vs3 and, besides those facts, he's our Player of the Match because he had 44 kills, a 108.1 ADR and a 1.55 rating across both maps.

Hiko is about to realize that his days of getting preferential treatment are over. He isn't a commodity anymore. And while I respect the player he was, he isn't likely to hit that level again. He's going to have to put in work to earn his stay, which I bet he's not used to really.

MSL had a hell of a series
