SL i-League S3 closed qual. teams

StarLadder has revealed which teams have been invited to the SL i-League StarSeries S3 closed qualifier, with the likes of fnatic, G2, OpTic and Cloud9 standing out in their respective regions.

With the open qualifier group stage already under way, StarLadder released the list of 16 teams—eight from Europe and eight from North America—that will be competing in the closed part of the qualifier.

The new-old fnatic will have to earn their spot at the LAN finals

The following teams have been invited to the closed qualifier for SL i-League StarSeries S3:

Europe North America
Europe HellRaisers  CIS FlipSid3   United States OpTic United States Cloud9
Europe mousesports  France G2   Brazil Immortals Brazil Luminosity
France Envy Sweden GODSENT    United States Misfits United States Liquid
Sweden fnatic Poland Kinguin   United States CLG Australia Renegades

The closed qualifier for each region will feature 16 teams in total, with the eight invited teams being joined with the eight best group stage teams.

After a single-elimination best-of-three bracket the two best North American teams and three best European teams will secure spots at the LAN finals that will be held in Kiev, Ukraine on April 4-9.

Eight teams have already received their invites for the LAN finals—you can find them and more details about the tournament on our SL i-League StarSeries S3 event page.

Top 2 NA and Top 3 EU get invites to the lan? Where do the other 3 spots go to? Seeing as there are 8 spots up for grabs. Should be EU gets 4, NA gets 4. Or am I missing something....

2017-02-23 07:33
Why the fuck should Asia get 3 spots?? They all fucking suck and just get 16-2ed in groups.. Waste of space. Go compete at tier3 events and win them before you waste everyones time by getting crushed by every EU/NA team.

china must be paying them mad money, but thats unfair to NA there was no NA teams invited and only 2 spots for the qualifier, while EU had 7 direct invites plus 3 spots from the qualifier. i can think of 3 teams from NA that deserved a spot over the chinese teams, Optic,Cloud9 and Immortals.
2017-02-23 10:09
Well you anyway need to count SK-Gaming as Americas team.

still SK and immortals are south american teams, theres no actual north american team invited and only two spots for north american teams, while china gets 3 and EU gets 7 direct invites + 3 qualifier spots. first time seeing something like that happen, you guys could either have invited a good north american team like Optic or C9 or given 3 spots for the NA qualifier and 2 for EU plus 3 for china since EU already had 7 direct invites.
2017-02-23 14:10
stoped reading at good north american team.
