Astralis over NiP; FaZe beat fnatic

Astralis and NiP played a marathon of a match on Overpass, including four overtimes, which the Danes were finally able to take, 28-24. On the other server, FaZe were able to turn their match around after a slow start and beat fnatic on Train, 16-11.

A mid round take of the B site by NiP, who were playing on the terrorist side, gave the Swedes the advantage as they were able to swarm through monster and eliminate the Astralis players. Despite losing a couple players early in NiP’s B execute on the first gun round, a big threee kills by the red hot Andreas "Xyp9x" Højsleth changed the momentum of the round and the Danes were eventually able to take the round.

After giving up another round, NiP struck back taking round after round to establish an early lead on the attacking side. With 6-2 on the board, Lukas "gla1ve" Rossander won a 1vs1 after plant against Adam "friberg" Friberg on B, defusing the bomb and preventing NiP from running away with the half. The Danes were reset the following round, though, as NiP won after slowly taking control of mid and winning their duels onto the A site.

With NiP ahead 11-4 at the half, Null element really needed to win the second pistol round, which they did in large part thanks to a triple by Peter "dupreeh" Rasmussen. On the first gun round, Astralis kept the momentum going and won it without losing a single player, to get within three rounds of NiP, 8-11.

Xyp9x and co. were able to take the map after four overtimes

After losing an eco following the first gun round, NiP were able to take control once again by stopping an Astralis play in mid, and thus extending their lead to 12-9. A quad-kill round by Xyp9x kept the Danes alive, but NiP kept trading rounds to not allow Astralis to come back.

NiP then followed it up after Richard "Xizt" Landström was able to outplay gla1ve in an after plant situation to defuse the bomb and secure the lead, which was now 14-10. The Danes weren’t ready to give up, though, and Astralis won a forcebuy after an A push to stay in the game.

After that forcebuy, Astralis were able to put NiP in a bad situation financially, and took advantage of it by winning three rounds in a row, for a 13-14 scoreline. After an arduous half, though, Astralis were able to power through and flip the scoreboard going into the last round, taking the lead 15-14. NiP were finally able to hang on and take the match to overtime.

The first half of OT went the way of the Danes, who were able to take two rounds on the attacking side before the switch. NiP were able to bring it back to 17-18 in the last round of the first overtime, which they were able to follow up to take it to double OT.

Once again, in the second overtime, both teams split the rounds, 3-3, and pushed it into triple overtime. Finally NiP were able to get themselves ahead by two rounds in the second half of the third overtime, giving them enough leeway to take the match. Astralis had different ideas, though, and won the last two rounds for another overtime.

Keeping their momentum going, Astralis were able to win the first three rounds on the CT side, including one round with a quad kill by Nicolai "device" Reedtz. Finally, Astralis were able to close it out and keep their slate clean going into their third match of the day.

The first pistol round of the match went the way of fnatic, who were on the attacking side, and were able to then extend their lead to 3-0 after winning the anti-ecos. On the first gun round, fnatic were able to take the outside site and plant the bomb, keeping their streak alive and making FaZe save once again.

With a five round deficit, "" were finally able to get a round on the board, which they were then able to follow-up to deny fnatic running away with the match early. With the double AWP setup, big defensive plays by Aleksi "allu" Jalli and Finn "karrigan" Andersen kept FaZe winning rounds. The score quickly evened out, 6-6, as FaZe started to push their weight around.

NiKo posted great numbers against fnatic

The half ended with FaZe leading 9-6 after finding a way to put up the wall, and the European combine was then able to stretch their lead after winning the pistol round. With 12-6 on the board, fnatic were finally able to stop the bleeding, taking the first gun round and following it up to shorten the distances between the two teams.

FaZe were able to find their groove quickly, though, and cut the Null element getting one more round, FaZe were finally able to close it out 16-11 to take the win.

Why is nobody talking about the fact that when the game got "reseted" on the 3OT, after the round won by NIP, bot teams got their 10k back to the follow up rounds? That said, after losing the second round, Astralis could still FULL buy on the last round (would be impossible), and that was crucial to the comeback! This was something big, yet no one seems to care?
