fnx: "I'm proud of how we performed"
We caught up with Immortals' latest addition, Lincoln "fnx" Lau, during the last day of IEM Katowice to ask him about his team's showing at the event.
In their debut with Lincoln "fnx" Lau, Immortals grabbed a semi-finals finish after winning four out of five matches in their group, which earned them third place in the end following a series of tiebreakers, and defeating North in quarter-finals before falling to FaZe.
Immortals surprised with a semi-finals finish at their debut event
We caught up with the newest addition to find out how his transition from SK over to Immortals has been, how he rates the squad's showing at IEM Katowice, and what they need to do to improve next time:
Going from SK over to Immortals, how do you think you've managed to accommodate with the new team in the past couple of weeks?
I was very happy to get on Immortals, actually, because the guys here are always happy, they're full of joy. I think I fit perfectly in my role in the team, so I think we have much to prove in the future.
Going over the groups at IEM, you won four out of five matches and then went through the tiebreakers. What are your thoughts on your performance in groups overall?
I don't remember quite well, to be honest, but I think I was very consistent in the group stage and in the tiebreakers. I was happy with my performance.
What about the tiebreakers as a format, how do they fare against the round difference, which is the usual solution?
I think these new tiebreakers they made are not very good, because we were already very tired, we were playing all day, so when we reached the tiebreakers we just wanted to end it fast. So I think the round difference is better.
Picking up a top four finish at your first tournament full of good teams with the new lineup, how would you rate your showing as a team in your debut?
I would give a 10 to our team, because I'm very proud of how we performed. I'm really happy with everyone, everyone did their job, and now I just want to reach finals with them and who knows, maybe titles.
How do you see yourself fitting in with the team after that debut, is there anything you can focus on to improve for next time then?
I think it worked really well because I already played with hen1 and lucas in the past and I really liked those boys and I liked their energy. About myself, to be honest, I don't know what to improve right now, I just want to improve the team as one, because I see a team in Counter-Strike like five fingers on a hand.
