North beat Astralis in OT
North beat Astralis on Inferno (19-16) to secure a 2-0 record at the SL i-League StarSeries S3 Finals in Kiev.
North started out as Terrorists on Inferno and picked up the pistol round after Philip "aizy" Aistrup clutched a 1v2 post-plant situation. As for Astralis, they won the following force-buy thanks to a triple kill by Peter "dupreeh" Rasmussen – which included a 1v2. It was Mathias "MSL" Lauridsen's squad turn to a force-buy and they attacked B for two rounds in a row – in the second one Astralis did not have enough time to defuse – to bring the scoreline to a 3-1 advantage.
As Astralis were able to buy again, their opponents did a slow-paced A execute in the sixth round for a four round lead. Nicolai "device" Reedtz's team went on another eco and weren't capable of winning as they bought weapons – this time, it was Kristian "k0nfig" Wienecke who clutched a 1v2.
k0nfig had some important moments through the map
After losing yet another eco, Astralis finally managed to win two rounds in a row. However, aizy and k0nfig won a 2v3 in the following round to help their team finish the first half with an 11-4 lead.
Lukas "gla1ve" Rossander and his teammates opened the second half up with a successful A play and got the subsequent two rounds – although North were close to winning the second one. René "cajunb" Borg & co. lost their first buy round and from that point Astralis tied the map 11-11.
Emil "Magisk" Reif's double and triple-kill in rounds 23rd and 24th, respectively, helped North win three rounds in a row for a 14-11 lead. In the following round, a quad-kill – which included a 1v3 – by device got his team back in the game as they continued to overcome their countrymen to reach match point. But Magisk's quad-kill in the last round of regulation took the game to overtime.
In yet another back and forth moment, North managed to win 17-16 on the CT-side. As they switched sides, k0nfig easily cleared the B bombsite to give his team the map point. In the next round, North closed off the Danish clash with a B execute to seal a 19-16 win.
PotM: Philip "aizy" Aistrup contributed in every round his team won (80% of all rounds) and had eight multi-kills. He is also considered our Player of the Match because he had the highest ADR (93.9) of the map and won two different 1vsX situations in the first half.
