CLG knock out Gambit

CLG have secured their second victory at the SL i-League StarSeries Season 3 finals after edging past Gambit 16-14 on Cobblestone.

Gambit got off to a great start to the match, winning the pistol round thanks to a quad kill from Mihail "Dosia" Stolyarov, and following it up with the corresponding anti-ecos to take a 3-0 lead.

CLG won the first gun round as Gambit let the clock run out, but the Kazakh side hit back in the following round, taking full advantage of the North Americans' poor economy, with Abay "Hobbit" Khasenov taking four kills.

With Dosia leading the charge, Gambit jumped out to a 9-2 lead, once again punishing CLG immediately after losing a round. But the North Americans tightened up their defence in the final stages of the half and won four rounds straight to reduce the deficit to 6-9.

CLG send Gambit packing

The second half began with CLG taking the pistol round thanks to three quick kills from Stephen "reltuC" Cutler. A combination of misplays from Gambit and CLG winning every close situation saw the North Americans take a comfortable lead, leaving the Kazah side in disarray.

At 9-13, Gambit took a tactical pause, but CLG remained in the driving seat and hit match point, powered by some key actions from Pujan "FNS" Mehta. Gambit's players then stepped up to the plate as the team desperately clung on to life, but as they were pushing for overtime Ethan "Ethan" Arnold hammered the final nail into their coffin with a triple kill during a flank.

PoTM: Ethan "Ethan" Arnold was one of CLG's most consistent players throughout the match and pulled off a crucial triple kill in the final round to send his team through to the next round.
