HellRaisers edge NiP for playoffs spot

HellRaisers edged NiP 16-13 on Overpass to clinch their place in the quarter-finals with a 3-1 record.

In the Overpass match for a spot in the playoffs, Kirill "ANGE1" Karasiow's triple kicked off HellRaisers' CT side with a 3-0 lead before NiP equalized the score, winning two gunrounds in a row on the back of Adam "friberg" Friberg's six kills on B overall.

Opening kills from Bence "DeadFox" Böröcz helped his squad start racking up rounds, with ANGE1 pitching in as well for a 7-3 lead.

The following round saw NiP killing two HR players on A with the rest deciding to save guns, which HellRaisers put to good use in the following round as DeadFox added three kills to his name.

ANGE1 and DeadFox reigned on Overpass

The Hungarian AWPer and ANGE1 continued to do most of the work in the fragging department on their way to a comfortable 10-5 half as CT. HellRaisers' in-game leader put up another triple in the second pistol, allowing his team to climb to an eight-round lead.

NiP then came alive, defending several attacks in a row with William "draken" Sundin getting a quad-kill and a triple along the way, lowering their deficit to just one when HellRaisers took a timeout. The following round saw the CIS-based squad nearly turning an eco into a round win, but Patrik "f0rest" Lindberg stepped up to the plate and retook the A bombsite in a 1v2 with one spray.

Only then could HR figure out a way past NiP's formidable defense with Patrik "Zero" Žúdel and DeadFox each contributing with two key kills. The 18-year-old Slovakian added a 1v1 clutch for match point and HellRaisers finished off the Swedes with three in a row at 16-13.

PotM: Kirill "ANGE1" Karasiow was not only on top of the scoreboard with 26-20 (93 ADR, 1.28 rating), he also had several multi-kills in crucial rounds, including triples in both pistol rounds that each gave HellRaisers a three-round lead.

That pause at the end by HR won them the game. If they can keep their chill in the future, they'll be a big upset team. F0rest and draken played their heart out, they almost made it happen.
