North sign Academy team

North have founded an academy team with the ambition of finding and developing talented players.

F.C. Copenhagen, one of the most famous Danish football clubs, entered the CS scene at the start of 2017 when they acquired the ex-dignitas players, featuring Mathias "MSL" Lauridsen & company. The name of the team was revealed as North.

After enjoying success with their first team to some degree, North have now founded an academy team under the leadership of Frederik "LOMME" Nielsen, who coached Heroic for a short period in 2016.

North Academy will be at CPH Games

Frederik "acoR" Gyldstrand and Daniel "mertz" Mertz, who recently left eFuture's Danish team, will be joined by ex-Rogue player Nicolai "glace" Jensen, and by former Singularity man Nicklas "gade" Gade.

"We are extremely happy to become a part of the biggest esports-project in Scandinavia," said North Academy player LOMME.

"It provides us with the opportunity to practice daily from Telia Parken and create a more professionalized environment in which to perform.

"Going full time means that we will be able to focus one hundred percent on improving, especially with the help from the North back office. We cannot wait to represent North Academy at Copenhagen Games and we are hoping for a lot of support out there."

Alexander "ave" Holdt, who enjoyed success during his time as the ingame leader of NoA/mTw between 2006 and 2011, has been brought in as a coach to help guide the team to success .

"A part of our vision for North and the future of esports, is to professionalize talent development," said Jacob Toft-Andersen, Chief Gaming Officer of North.

"It is with that purpose in mind that we have decided to create North Academy, so we are able to turn the players with the highest potential into future superstars and create results in the long run.

"I am extremely happy that we managed to secure a highly courted team, and I feel like we have a perfect balance of experience and raw talent. On top of that I am thrilled with the acquisition of ave as coach, and I am sure it is only a matter of time before North Academy is challenging for Top 5 in Denmark."

Here is the roster of North Academy:

Denmark Frederik "LOMME" Nielsen
Denmark Daniel "mertz" Mertz
Denmark Nicolai "glace" Jensen
Denmark Nicklas "gade" Gade
Denmark Frederik "acoR" Gyldstrand

Denmark Alexander "ave" Holdt - Coach

North Academy will compete in the Copenhagen Games 2017 BYOC Qualifier on April 13 for the chance to win one of the eight spots in the $54,000 main competition. They are in Group C with Red Reserve, Just.MSI, and BERIH. The full group draw can be found here.

so does 50+ other teams in Europe let alone breaking it in to the top5 in DK will be hard. Good luck to North Academy though, mertz is an exciting player to watch out for!

I don't know... Ave has been away from the scene for so long. Does anyone know if he has been playing actively knows meta and maps etc?
2017-04-12 15:07
he played maybe sometime 2015 with sunde trace minet, zonic was suppose to be their 5th but from what i seen on steam he never played. They also had streams on azubu. ave said something about how teams could be better when it came to strategic something a long that, but the dream died when mtw didnt sign them so they all quit lol. From twitter he seems to watch csgo games also. hltv.org/news/16595-zonic-rounds-out-mtw.. ave coming back as a coach should be it's own news also.
2017-04-12 18:15
Should sign young talents instead of 23 y/o garbage players
