OpTic eliminate EnVyUs in LA
OpTic have advanced to the lower bracket semi-finals at cs_summit after winning 2-1 against EnVyUs (16-11 on Mirage, 14-16 on Train and 16-14 on Nuke).
In a flawless B execution, Oscar "mixwell" Cañellas opened up Mirage with a triple-kill to secure the T-side pistol round for his team. In the following round, OpTic failed to succeed against Envy' force-buy – which included a 1v2 by Adil "ScreaM" Benrlitom.
From that point onward, the French squad's defense continued to prevail against the North American team as they had a five-round streak before losing a single round and winning another four rounds in a row. However, mixwell's squad managed to win three more rounds to close the gap to 5-10.
In the second half, Keith "NAF" Markovic and Tarik "tarik" Celik had a double-kill to help OpTic win yet another pistol round. Despite having a five round lead and some opening kills, Envy lost seven in a row until they finally won their first as Terrorists for the 11-12 scoreline. Nevertheless, Jason "jasonR" Ruchelski & co. extended their dominance on Mirage as they closed the map 16-11.
mixwell had the highest ADR, assists and AWP kills on Mirage
Cédric "RpK" Guipouy started Train, Envy' map pick, with a triple-kill that guaranteed the T-side pistol round for his team. Even though OpTic almost won the following one, the Frenchmen continued to win the subsequent rounds for a 5-0 lead.
A triple-kill by mixwell in the sixth round and a quad-kill by William "RUSH" Wierzba in the eighth assured the first rounds for their team. The North American squad then won two more rounds and seemed to be back in the game, but Envy proved their Terrorist strength with an 11-4 scoreline at the end of the first half.
The second half began with OpTic winning their third pistol round of the series after a fast B push. In the gun round, mixwell did the opening kill and NAF finished it in an 1v1 against Vincent "Happy" Schopenhauer to secure their fourth Terrorist round.
In a semi-eco by Alexandre "xms" Forté & his teammates in the next round, the French player had a triple-kill with the five-seven to help his team secure a 12-8 lead. Envy were then able to win one more until their adversaries managed to tie the game 13-13.
With yet another opening kill in the twenty-seventh round, mixwell opened up the way for his team's first lead of the map. However, the game wasn't over and Envy won three in a row to win Train 16-14.
RpK led the way for EnVyUs on Train with 26 kills and an 113 ADR
On Nuke, the deciding map, tarik secured the T-side pistol round for his team with a quad-kill and an 1v2 clutch. After stunning OpTic's anti-eco, the French team increased their lead to 4-1.
Despite their opponnents' effort, including an 1v2 that mixwell almost pulled off in the fourteenth round, Envy only conceded three more rounds and guaranteed the 11-4 in the first half.
OpTic then won yet another pistol round, now as Counter-Terrorists, and the subsequent two. Although they lost the first gun round and one more, RUSH's squad managed to reach the 13-13 tie. From that point, they lost a single round until mixwell opened up the last round with an AWP kill to help his team finish the map 16-14.
