G2 eliminate Liquid, 2-1
G2 were able to take Liquid out in the Group B elimination match in three maps; Train, 16-13; Cobblestone, 5-16; and Nuke, 16-9
The match started on Cobblestone, with G2 holding their ground on drop as CT to quickly eliminate all of Liquid and tally the first point on the score board. The French team took a three round lead instantly, winning both anti-ecos, but just as quickly Liquid tied it up when they got their hands on guns.
Liquid took their momentum and got the lead, 3-4, but G2 were able to turn it back around winning three rounds in a row to turn it around, to 6-4 in their favor, with particularly solid play by Dan "apEX" Madesclaire.
With none of the teams able to develop a solid economy, the half ended with a minimal lead for Liquid, 8-7. The North American team were then able to win the second pistol round and increased their lead to 11-7.
Deep in the game, G2 and Liquid found themselves tied 12-12, in large part thanks to apEX and Kenny "kennyS" Schrub’s fragging power. With the momentum on their side and Liquid’s economy in shambles, G2 took the lead to 14-12, and eventually closed it 16-13 for the 1-0 lead in the best-of-three series.

The second map, Train, started with G2 going down the grinder in ladder room as Nick "nitr0" Cannella and Josh "jdm64" Marzano cleaned up to give Liquid the first round. After the ecos, G2 were able to win a round with both kennyS and Richard "shox" Papillon getting doubles, before and after the plan respectively, but were immediately reset by Liquid in the following round.
The map, which was G2’s pick, quickly started to slip away from the French side, as Liquid took a 7-1 lead. No matter what the French team did, Liquid had answers, in large part thanks to jdm64 going big with the awp.
jdm64 was one of the driving forces behind Liquid’s win on Train
After an 11-4 half, nitr0 won a 1vs2 after plant to virtually push the game into a third map, which they did without many issues, closing out Train, 16-5.
With ten rounds played, G2 were ahead 6-4, in large part because of kennyS’s AWPing. The French star, at that point, had 18 frags. From thereon out, G2 put up the wall and absolutely obliterated Liquid, not giving them a single round in the half.
G2 won the second pistol round, and leading 12-4, had Liquid up against the wall. The French team won two more rounds, but Liquid were then able to win the first gun round, and followed it up against an eco.
Little by little, with young Russel "Twistzz" Van Dulken putting on an impressive performance, Liquid started to come back round by round. The comeback dream was suddenly stopped, though, when G2 got the fifteenth round on the board and turned the dream into a nightmare with a 16-9 finish.
