SK ease past ViCi in Sydney

SK Gaming got their IEM Sydney campaign off on the right foot after defeating ViCi 16-6 on Cobblestone.

The match began with ViCi taking the pistol round and the corresponding anti-ecos to get out to a quick 3-0 lead. With a trio of kills from Fernando "fer" Alvarenga, SK comfortably won the first gun round, and they followed that up with two more rounds to restore parity at 3-3.

ZhiHong "aumaN" Liu then went huge and pushed B from drop, getting three entry frags in the process. SK immediately called a timeout to prevent the Chinese team from gaining any sort of momentum and went for a double AWP setup. With Epitacio "TACO" de Melo and Gabriel "FalleN" Toledo sharing the sniping duties exceptionally well, the Brazilians won seven of the next eight rounds to close out the half with a 10-5 lead.

SK win their first match in Sydney

After a rough first half in which he was often caught out early, fer picked up four kills in the pistol round as Terrorist to help SK to overturn a 2v4 situation. A quad kill from João "felps" Vasconcellos in the third round left the Chinese players frustrated after a force-buy, but they bounced back with a shoddy buy to keep their hopes alive.

SK were not going to let a comeback happen, however, and won the next round to reset ViCi's economy before locking down the map, 16-6.
