Immortals over G2; fnatic beat Cloud9

The first two matches of the day pitted two group A teams, G2 and Immortals on Overpass, and fnatic against Cloud9 on Nuke. The Brazilians imposed their will over G2, 16-10, and fnatic dealt with Cloud9 quickly, 16-6.

The match between the French and Brazilian sides started with the former on the defending side, and able to take the first pistol round with five swift USP-S headshots. After losing the anti-ecos, Immortals quickly got back into the game by taking the first gun round, following it up, and winning against an eco to tie it 3-3.

lucas had a stellar performance against G2

With the momentum on their side, and an economy being built, Immortals took the lead mid-way through the first half. Not allowing G2 to get comfortable, Immortals then went on to take the half in style, 10-5.

G2 were able to win the second pistol round on Overpass, and after winning the anti-ecos they set themselves up for a comeback, but an incredibly solid Immortals, whose Lucas "LUCAS1" Teles was on fire were able to take three gun rounds in a row to take a 13-8 lead and put G2’s feet back on the ground. Finally, the Brazilians were able to get onto match point in the twenty-fourth round, and closed it two rounds later, 16-10.

On Nuke, fnatic won the first pistol round, on the CT side, after defusing the bomb in the B site. The Swedes then went on to win the first gun round, and kept their streak all the way to 6-0, when the match was stopped by Cloud9 for a tactical pause.

fnatic’s antics on Nuke’s CT side gave them an easy victory

The North American team was finally able to get a round on the board in the ninth round, in large part thanks to a triple by Mike "shroud" Grzesiek playing in yard, but were instantly denied on the following round, and the Swedes ran away with the half, 13-2.

Cloud9 were able to win the second pistol round of the match, and followed it up winning an anti-eco and a gun round, but a pistol buy from fnatic in the twentieth round got the Swedes one round away from match point, 14-6. Robin "flusha" Rönnquist and co. then went on to close the match without much trouble, 16-6.

They are seriously overrated though, and has always been. The only reason they are at events like this is cuz they play vs NA, in EU they would never ever qualify.
2017-05-31 20:48
I agree but they are still a team to be cautious with. Do not underestimate them.

Turns out Group A is the biggest shitfest. Whoever comes third will lose in the quarters for sure, nV vs Immortals will decide who I guess.

Cloud9 are bang average. So much individual talent in the team, yet so little in terms of collective results.
2017-05-31 19:29
not that much individual talent... shroud, ska and n0thing are all pretty average at best nowadays. good enough for NA maybe but not against EU
