DH Summer group draw

The draw for the group stage of DreamHack Summer has been made, with the eight participating teams having been split into two groups.

Held at the Elmia Exhibition and Convention Centre, in Jönköping, from June 17-19, DreamHack Summer will feature the standard format of the Open stops, with eight teams battling it out for $100,000 in cash prizes.

Six invited teams will be joined by the winners of the qualifiers in Europe and North America, Singularity and CLG, respectively, in the double-elimination group stage, featuring best-of-three matches in the Lower Bracket.

SK will face Singularity in the first round

The top two teams from both groups will advance to the best-of-three, single-elimination playoffs, which will determine the team who will walk home with the grand prize of $50,000.

The group draw has thrown up quite a few interesting matches in the first round, with Gambit taking on CLG in a rematch of the SL i-League StarSeries Season 3 encounter between the two, and mousesports locking horns with Immortals.

Below you can find the group draw in full:

Group A Group B
Brazil SK Kazakhstan Gambit
Europe mousesports Sweden fnatic
Brazil Immortals United States Cloud9
Denmark Singularity United States CLG

We share same opinions, but it's important to note that Gambit can make the surprise & pull off something even better than we saw in DH austin even tho they did great

fnatic are better than mouz imo I'd say for this event it would be SK > fnatic > gambit = mouz > c9 = immortals > clg > singularity

SK players arent gold diggers like most tier 1 teams that will refuse invites if the prizepool is not high enough, they remember their roots.
2017-06-07 20:53
No, SK needs there events since they cant win fully stacked t1 events.

they won IEM Sydney which had Astralis and FaZe (top 1 and 2) seems pretty stacked to me.
2017-06-08 12:45
It was an 8 team event, and at least half the teams were total free wins, meaning the 3 good teams could never get upset like they can at really stacked events like Starladder or Katowice. A stacked event don't just have a couple of good teams, it has all the teams just behind them as well. The teams that can beat them unless they are playing 100%. In Sydney, they didn't even have to try before the semis.

what's the point of having teams below them if we all know that Astralis and FaZe would just roll over all of them? if there was a tourney with only the top 4 teams in the rank atm that would be a stacked tourney since those are the tier 1 teams atm
2017-06-10 00:20
They don't roll over them, sure if they play 100% they will win, but if they don't they can lose, just like we saw with SK in Katowice and Starladder. That means the top teams have to perform already in the group stage or risk being eliminated (again like SK). In Sydney, every game before the semi final was pointless and the 3 top teams had basically 0 risk of getting eliminated before that stage. 8 team tournaments usually have this issue since they always feel the need to invite some useless local/NA teams.

what? SK wasnt a tier 1 team back at IEM katowice, felps had just joined the team and they were figuring things out and one month later at starladder they went out in groups, but the teams that they lost to were FaZe, Astralis and G2 (current tier 1 teams) that's due to how retarded the swiss system is, SK won their first two games agaisnt TyLoo and VP then after that they got G2, Astralis and FaZe in a row, while CLG made to playoffs without having to beat any of the tier 1 teams. like i said the only team missing at IEM Sydney was G2. Astralis,FaZe SK and North were there, when 4 out of the top 5 teams are attending to a tourney its a tier 1 tourney for sure.
