Cloud9 win Americas Minor over Immortals

Cloud9 are the winners of the Americas Minor Championship after defeating Immortals 2-1 in the grand final.

Mirage began with a bang as Vito "kNgV-" Giuseppe clutched a 1v4 situation in the pistol round to put Immortals in the lead. Cloud9 came fighting right back, however, and went on a massive run, with the Brazilians struggling to find a way through the rock-solid North Americans.

With the scoreline 2-10, Ricardo "boltz" Prass won a 1vs2 clutch with a tec9 to steal the round away from Cloud9. That round breathed some life into the game, with Immortals going on to win the next two rounds to bring the deficit to 5-10.

Cloud9 further added to their lead by taking the pistol round as Terrorists with an A push thanks to a triple kill from Jake "Stewie2K" Yip during a flank. With the economy control and the momentum in their favour, the North Americans continued amassing rounds and eventually took the map at 16-5.

Cloud9 win LAN title and break their curse vs. the Brazilians

The map that followed was Inferno, where Cloud9 got out to a 3-0 lead. Immortals then solved their defence and grabbed eight rounds in a row, but the North Americans pushed back late in the half to set the score at 9-6 in the Brazilians' favor.

After losing the following pistol round, Cloud9 rallied back on a force-buy thanks to two Scout headshots from Timothy "autimatic" Ta, but they were unable to follow it up, allowing Immortals to put together another great run that would see them lock down the map, 16-6.

It all came down to Cache, where Cloud9 got off to a flying start on the CT side, taking a commanding 8-1 lead. It was only then that Immortals' offence finally came to life, but all they managed to get before the end of the half was four more rounds.

boltz still tried to rescue Immortals, but without success

Cloud9 secured the pistol round as Terrorists and followed it up with the corresponding anti-ecos to take their lead to 13-5. In the first full gun round, the North Americans went for an audacious B push and were rewarded for it with the round win after finding two entry frags.

With the spot at the Major qualifier already secured, Immortals showed no interest in playing for overtime and went all out with force buys, but they failed to hold Cloud9 off, with the North Americans going on to win the map by a 16-5 scoreline.

no they got the decider map pick which is meaningless because the teams had already banned the maps that they didn't want to play
2017-06-12 04:20
But Immortals got to choose which of the remaining 2 maps they wanted to play on, so that kinda counts as half a pick. If both teams had a huge map pool then it'd be more impactful than it was.

both teams were confortable with the remaining maps because, so it makes no difference at all and if i'm not mistaken cloud9 got to choose side on the decider. basically it was a 1-1 in bo3's

actually C9 was luck that tourney had a lower bracket, but the thing is, all the tourneys that i watched from dota 2 ,lol, smash bros and street figher that had a lower bracket the team from the upper bracket always had a advantage, for instance on street fighter the player coming from the lower bracket has to win 2 Bo5's while the player from the upper only needs to win one, on dota 2 the team from the upper bracket gets a map advantage on a bo5, actually they had the same system at cs_summit, SK got a map advantage on a bo5 for being from the upper bracket. at the end of the tourney IMT won 3 maps against C9 and C9 only won 2, that's not fair at all.

Dota has a normal bo5 in the final of the International, so the most prestigious tournament there is have the same system.... C9 wasn't lucky with the format, they were just better when it mattered. Your comment is screaming button hurt and biased so much that my eyes blead

C9 was luck with the format, they got a second chance, because it was double elimination, they lost at the semifinals and had another chance,in 99% of CSGO tourneys if you lose in the semifinals you're out, so since C9 got a second chance for balance things out the team from the upper bracket should get an advantage, that's just basic logic otherwise it becomes unfair and kinda puts a * on the team that came from the lower bracket and won because at the end of the day they just tied things with the team from the upper bracket. and i'm not the only one complaining about it, go to reddit and look at the C9 vs IMM post match page, there's a bunch of EU ppl complaining too. think about it, is it fair that C9 lost a bo3 to IMM and got a second chance, while Immortals beat all the teams until the finals lost to C9 and didn't get a second chance too? that's why upper bracket on double elimination tourneys gets an advantage.

Jesus fucking Christ, the literally biggest esport tournament on earth uses the same format without advantages, IMT even had a pick advantage if you want to be nitty. It is just how the format is and has nothing to do with luck. Your fanboism is pathetic

its not the same on dota 2 its a bo5 not a fuckin a bo3, a Bo5 with no advantages would be more fair because BO5>BO3 if C9 had beaten IMM at the finals in a bo5 then i wouldn't even be complaining but it was a bo3 so they literally tied since each team won one bo3. and other dota 2 tourneys do it with 1 map advantage for the winners bracket, like the_summit, starladder, dreamhack, not to mention that there's a bunch of threads on the internet of ppl complaining about valve not giving any advantages to the winners bracket even tho that its a bo5 and the pick advantage doesn't really matter since both teams had already banned the maps that they didn't want to play and IMT only got to choose the decider which most of the times the decider is choosed randomly between the two remaining maps, like i said go on fuckin reddit and look how many people are complaining about the format basically C9 got the privilege of losing a BO3 and IMT didnt, it was a double elimination format for everybody but IMT since they lost only one and were done, you talking about fanboism while i'm just using logic, you're actuallly the one dodging the argument and using ad-hominems insted.

well, they should get an advantage its only fair since they had already beaten Cloud9 and CLG in Dota 2 tourneys for instance when there's a loser and winner bracket the team comming from the winner bracket gets a one map advantage on a bo5, that's fair.
2017-06-12 04:42
remember cs_summit when SK given 1 map advantage and kennyS-shox given 1 game advantage on HTC 2v2, same system as this one, and the number of kids whining here are too much. whatever they do, people will find a way to whining!

its retarded tho, at the end of the tourney Immortals won 3 maps against C9 and C9 won 2 yet C9 won the tourney.
2017-06-12 04:49
Wtf is this logic? Like if they won them in group stage so they deserve to win? It doesn't matter how much they win, it is the important game that matters

Brazil Mirekz
they didn't win the group stage they beat C9 at the semi finals dude, but C9 got another shot through the lower bracket, C9 was luck that this tourney had a lower bracket otherwise they would be already eliminated by losing at the semi finals against IMT. like i said above every tourney that has a lower bracket on every e-sports the team that is from the upper bracket gets an advantage, for instance on dota 2 the team from the upper bracket gets 1 map advantage on a bo5 on street fighter the player from the lower bracket has to win 2 bo5's while the player from upper only needs to win one. do you think that its fair they goin 1-1 in bo3's and C9 win the tourney? there should be at least another bo3 since they were basically tied not to mention that C9 won 2 maps while IMT won 3.
2017-06-12 06:11
It's a fair point, a B03 finals in a tournament with lower and upper brackets it's a bad idea (especially in a 50k prize tournament...). However, we must agree that C9 played better in the finals, despite Immortals possessing a free day for practice and rest for the finals

1 map advantages only work for BO5 and they're not going to play a BO5 with only 15k at stake. Can you imagine if they were given a 1 map advantage in a BO3, you'd literally only need to win 1 map which is fucking stupid. Unless you can think of a better alternative this is the best solution for upper bracket advantages.
2017-06-12 05:03

if they are not goin to give any advantages to upper bracket then they shouldn't make the last game, if there's no advantages for upper bracket then the bo3 where IMT beat C9 should be the grand finals then C9 would fight CLG for second place and the last spot, that would be fair.
2017-06-12 06:14
Personally I hate the tournaments where they do that. A grand final should be from a clean slate - or a very small advantage (like map picks). Just my opinion.

if they want finals to be "a clean state" then dont make a upper and lower bracket, the entire point of having a upper bracket is to give the team in the upper bracker an advantage because they earned it by beating all the other teams, if they are not goin to give any advantages to upper bracket at the finals then change the format.

Yeah I know but there's a lot to try for man. The 'title' is the main thing, for example when Renegades won the Asia minor people said it didn't matter for Tyloo because they already qualified but it means a lot more than that. It means a lot for the players and even more so for the organization to win a tournament even if it's a small one. C9 weren't fighting for money, not for a qualifier spot but instead for the 'title' if that makes sense :P Sorry if I explained it poorly
