Europe Minor schedule & groups revealed

The groups and schedule for the last Minor before PGL Major Krakow have been revealed by the organisation.

The European event is set to run from June 15-18 at PGL's studios, in Bucharest, Romania. Eight teams will be competing for $50,000 and three spots at the PGL Major Krakow 2017 Main Qualifier.

Happy's EnVyUs are one of the main contenders

Envy have been placed in Group A, together with BIG, Kinguin and fnatic Academy - who will play as Ballistix due to the tournament rules regarding academy teams. Group B will see PENTA, iGame.com, LDLC and Dignitas face off for two places in the playoffs.

Here are the groups for the Europe Minor, which will feature a GSL format:

Group A Group B
France Envy Europe PENTA
Germany BIG Europe LDLC
Poland Kinguin Norway Dignitas
Sweden fnatic Academy (Ballistix)
Finland iGame.com

The first two days will be dedicated to the group stage. The victors from the opening matches will advance to the winners' match, in which they will play another best-of-one for a place in the playoffs. Teams dropping to the Lower Bracket will play best-of-three matches.

As you can check below, the playoffs will run on the last two days of the event, with a best-of-three double-elimination bracket in place. The full schedule looks as follows:

This will actually be fun to watch. Lots of teams that will make this competitive and a lot better than the NA minor where it only one BO3 match went the full 3 maps. IMO Group A is a lot better than Group B though. I could easily see EnVyUs, BIG, or Kinguin all qualifying, but really only PENTA from group B. If LDLC actually play well then they could cause some problems while Dignitas has shown that they are still coming together as a team and I need to see more.

Great minor to wathc! It wont be easy for Penta in group B (except iGame should be easiest) but if they play as good as lately they... It should be theirs! Group A will be EnvyUs show... Or it should be! :)

2017-06-12 20:14
BIG, Penta, nV potential: LDLC (1 upset BO1 on overpass with to1nou doing 8multifrags) Kinguin should have no chance - Hyper needs to retire. old polish teams need to be reassemble. Fnatic academy will win cache against dignitas or something but fail in the upper bracket semis and then lower brackts on map3 ot. iGame is the darkhorse? I don't think so. Fnatic Academy is.

Envy and Penta for sure and then BIG/fnatic aca for second spot in group A and Dig or LDLC in group B - LDLC is the better team but they're inconsistent so anything can happen.

I am thinking envyus big and penta to qualify but i think it could be dignitas ldlc or igames instead of big. It is a very close competition. Wish it had more slots but somehow they need to allocate two slots for the cis teams which are significantly lower level than the european teams. In fact the team which lost at the closed qualifer simply deserve the chance more than the one from the cis minor.
