CLG upset Gambit in Jönköping

CLG beat Gambit 19-16 on Overpass in the Group B opening match at DreamHack Open Summer 2017.

CLG and Gambit faced off on Overpass in the opening match of Group B. The CT-sided Gambit won the pistol round and clutched a 2vs4 in the following round, making it 2-0. Kenneth "koosta" Suen clutched a 1vs1 in the first weapon round to get his team their first round but a 5vs3 loss a round later extended Gambit's lead to 4-1.

Gambit made it 8-1 before CLG could get another round. The double AWP setup of Ricardo "Rickeh" Mulholland and koosta came alive in the second portion of the first half and they won five rounds in a row to trail 9-6 at halftime.

Koosta made the difference in overtime

CLG won the second half pistol round but losing the anti-eco hurt their economy (10-7). koosta & Pujan "FNS" Mehta opened up the twentieth round with opening kills and the North Americans picked up their eighth round (12-8). CLG then won a 2vs2 post-plant and started a streak. koosta & company took care of Gambit's force buy and eco rounds (12-11). Gambit managed to extend their lead to 13-11 but CLG responded in the following round, breaking Gambit's economy once again (13-12).

CLG took the lead by stopping Gambit's A-site pushes and Rickeh's explosive 1vs2 clutch gave the North Americans two match points (15-13). Danylo "Zeus" Teslenko's 1vs1 clutch in the following round kept his team alive and Mihail "Dosia" Stolyarov took the match to overtime with a triple kill.

CLG won the first round of overtime with FNS' 1vs1 clutch and made it 17-15 with koosta's smoke defuse. Abay "Hobbit" Khasenov's 1vs3 post plant clutch put an end to the first half (17-16). CLG won two rounds on the T-side to win the game 19-16.

Hobbits clutch in OT was a 1v3, not a 1v2... Also, very enjoyable match to watch. Lots of tactical and lots of dumb plays that made it very interesting.

Yeah, fixed the mistake, thanks.

It was always a trend to underestimate CLG at groupstages ever since the start of 2015
2017-06-17 15:57
I guess that's true, they've always been that 2nd NA team or the reject NA team.
