fnatic have become the second grand finalist at DreamHack Open Summer after beating Immortals 2-1 (13-16 on Inferno, 16-9 on Overpass, and 16-1 on Mirage).
Immortals and fnatic squared off in the second semi-final at DreamHack Open Summer to determine who would become SK's opponent in the grand final. The first map was Inferno which was picked by fnatic.
Immortals started on the T-side and Lucas "LUCAS1" Teles's double entry kill opened up the B-site in the pistol round. Despite winning against fnatic's force buy in the second round, Immortals melted down against a full eco as Dennis "dennis" Edman secured a triple kill and the round win (2-1).
Immortals were quick to answer, picking up their third round after Vito "kNgV-" Giuseppe's opening kill. fnatic responded with three consecutive rounds to take the lead (4-3). LUCAS1 tied the game at 4-4 with a triple kill. Immortals won the first half 8-7.
fnatic started well in the second half, winning the pistol and anti-ecos. Robin "flusha" Rönnquist & company managed to turn around a 3vs5 in the first weapon round and extended their lead to 11-8. However, throughout the rest of the match,Immortals were the superior team and won the map 16-13 with a solid CT-side performance.
The second map was Overpass where the T-sided fnatic almost lost a 5vs2 in the pistol round. olofmeister saved his team with a 1vs2 clutch to earn his team the first round. The Swedes also won the second round but lost four players.
Henrique "HEN1" Teles and Ricardo "boltz" Prass opened up the first weapon round with opening kills which put Immortals on the board (3-1). boltz was influential in the next round as well, getting two opening kills (3-2). Immortals then tied the game but fnatic prevailed and won the first half 9-6.
The Swedish squad couldn't win the second half pistol round but the force buy in the following one worked (10-7). Olof "olofmeister" Kajbjer & co. made it 12-7 after winning the anti-ecos. Immortals picked up their eighth round with entry killls from boltz but they got reset immediately and fnatic went on to win the map 16-9.
fnatic started the last map, Mirage, on the CT-side and grabbed the first three rounds. Winning the first weapon round didn't do much good for Immortals as their economy got reset which was a recurring theme throughout the series (4-1). fnatic went berserk, hitting every shot and winning every round to lead 14-1 at halftime. They won the map 16-1 to advance to the grand final and eliminate Immortals.
