FaZe defeat OpTic in ECS S3 Finals opener

FaZe have secured their first victory at the ECS Season 3 Finals after defeating OpTic 16-9 in Group A's opening match.

The first game of the tournament started out on Overpass, with OpTic picking up the Counter-Terrorist pistol round and the subsequent two. FaZe would then grab their first with a fast B execution, setting them up for to a 3-3 stalemate.

OpTic were still able to buy one more time, but their economy was left in tatters as FaZe secured their fourth round. Following a save round from James "hazed" Cobb's men, the North American squad managed to take a 7-5 lead by taking four rounds in a row. However, after winning three straight rounds,FaZe secured an 8-7 half-time lead.

FaZe have picked up their first victory in London

Oscar "mixwell" Cañellas' squad began the second half with a B execution and managed to secure the bombsite. Still, with Håvard "rain" Nygaard adding four frags to his name, FaZe picked up the pistol round in a retake play.

Finn "karrigan" Andersen' fivemen then easily reached the thirteen-round mark before losing their first rounds of the half. OpTic seemed to be ready to pick up another round, but Aleksi "allu" Jalli and rain clutched a 2v4, opening the way for their team to close out Overpass 16-9.

Rain is one crazy modafucka. What a team FaZe has from both an individual and collective point of view. Rain and NiKo are crazy fraggers, kio is fantastic and karrigan is an elite IGL. Allu is a good enough AWPer and they can run a good double AWP set up with NiKo. Scary team. That said, Optic threw a few rounds, especially that 4v2 after plant (it actually happened twice). They just didn't look confident. They have no chance in this tournament.
