NiP ease past G2 in Cologne

Ninjas in Pyjamas have picked up their second victory at ESL One Cologne following a comprehensive 16-6 victory over G2 on Cache.

The final match of the day began with a successful A execution from G2 in the pistol round, with Nathan "NBK-" Schmitt getting four kills to his name. A quad kill from William "draken" Sundin in the first gun round set NiP up for a great run: unable to string rounds together, the French team lost control of the game, allowing the Swedes to win the final seven rounds of the half and secure a convincing 10-5 lead.

NiP piled more misery on G2 with a near-flawless pistol round in which they planted the bomb with a three-man advantage. After losing both eco rounds, G2 picked up the first full gun round of the half, but NiP rallied back after overturning a 3v5 situation.

NiP's players were all smiles after defeating an uninspired G2

The money reset left the Frenchmen in complete disarray. With the economical and psychological advantage, NiP quickly wrapped things up, clinching the match with back-to-back fast executions to which G2 could find no response.

The only question is: for how long will NiP's honeymoon last? My bet is 6 months max. Remember when they just picked Maikelele? Remember them after picking pyth? That's it. But I'm happy to see one more good team anyway. As for G2: -apEX +ScreaM
2017-07-05 00:56
This time it's different though.
2017-07-05 00:57
nothing is different, they have the same IGL and the same 2 old players, even 2 new players can't change their chemistry much, and once they get predictable - they will start sucking cock, because they just fail to figure out how to change things without changing players. But there are no players left to change ;-)
2017-07-05 00:59
REZ isn't IGL?

2017-07-05 01:04
Yeah I'll definitely watch* some of these games, I was asleep for most of the first round but there were some interesting results
2017-07-05 01:09
by interesting results I assume you mean the SK vs SS one haha
2017-07-05 01:09
That and OpTic were definitely not what I was expecting lol
2017-07-05 01:11
Ah yeah, actualy everyone is suprised lol. I was assuming they are having their last like "motivational" tournament with this lineup as they had thoughts of -mixwell and -hazed frm playing position. I guess Tariks peanut brain is pretty good to IGL, and yes, Tarik is IGLing this event. Also the CLG coach is doing good work I guess.
2017-07-05 01:26
Yeah when I heard tarik was igling that made it even more surprising lol

2017-07-05 12:05
They've changed though. Even Friberg though NiP won't play cache, friberg even had to say "shit" LIVE cuz he just was so suprised they picked it. Also, I have never ever seen Xizt use a stratbook, dunno if I've just been unlucky or what, but on Drakens IG story, he posted a clip of team praccing and stuff and Xizt was writing down shit in a notepad imo strat book. + They got shit loads of motivation now as they've "ruined" the core 4. Like you ruined smth legendary, you obviously will have the motivation to make the new stuff really good.
2017-07-05 01:02
And 1 key aspect people tend to forget easily: Threat was still busy with his study. So wasn't commited with the team at all. When he was (Almost a year ago), the team performed. When he went back to his study, the team got stuck in a pattern and couldn't get out of the slump that followed. Now threat finished his study, and will work full time as an analyst and coach. Imho that will be equally as important, as swapping out 1 of the core 4. So yes, this NiP will try and get back to majors. And they have a great mix of young and old now, I believe in them.
2017-07-05 01:07
Ah woaw, I had no idea he was studying on the side.
2017-07-05 01:08
Well he wasn't. He was full time studying and doing NiP coaching on the side ;)
2017-07-05 01:13
I doubt there is any "additional" motivation from ruining the core, because their core actually contained all 5 players from 2012, once they kicked/whatever Fifflaren - they always get that "honeymoon motivation" everytime they pick some new player. I guess everybody thought they were back after they won some tournaments with pyth or after they showed some cool performances with Maikelele, but they didn't last long. xizt thought NiP were strong on cache not really long ago, I remember him saying something like "you better don't ever pick cache against us" [in NiP's teamspeak?] after NiP defeated somebody on it (I believe it was fnatic), but they lost confidence on it (as well as on pretty much all the other maps) after their failures. You should get me right - I do want them to become a T1 team, because I'm bored of SK dominance (yeah they still lose some bo1 but in the end they win the majority of tournaments and it's sad just like it was in 2012-2013 when NiP dominated), but I'm tired of disappointments, that's why I'd better don't expect much and be surprised ;-)
2017-07-05 01:11
Nah, nah, I mean thats your opinion and I got mine :P This time I actualy have faith in NiP unlike the other 3 times.

2017-07-05 00:57
No. shox + ScreaM duo raped everybody in 2016, but crying baby NBK hates ScreaM and kennyS is in gay love with apEX, that's why ScreaM got left teamless in the end. And for sure ScreaM won't be invited to G2 till NBK is there, meaning there's no room for ScreaM in G2 sadly.

ScreaM is not a teamplayer and he is much worse than any of the G2 players.
2017-07-05 01:12
> ScreaM is not a teamplayer nt NBK ScreaM was as much impactful as shox was, but then shox decided to team up with NBK and thus ScreaM was left out of G2.

Of course, our opnions are different. I think NBK, apEX, bodyy are all better than ScreaM and it was an absolutely good choice made by the French team.
2017-07-05 01:28
Scream was good in mid 2016 amd after that he went back to the good ol scream. Plus you cant just throw in random players lol. You have roles in a team and he wouldnt fit. Plus bodyy nbk apex are all 10x more consistent than wun tap machine that chokes on every major.

Yeah, I think it was, but there are idiots in the world who don't even know what they're writing down, and I believe that some people thinks that ScreaM and GTR will be at the Major. It wasn't ScreaM's fault. It was EnVy's fault.
2017-07-05 01:31
of course it wasnt Scream faults, Scream is a star player, he always top fraging and carrying the team, but they still didnt qualify.

During the Minor there were games(or at least one) when he was the bottom fragger. And CS is not all about the stats. And I think that G2 players know the French scene more than you or me. There are reasons why they picked these 5 players instead of ScreaM
2017-07-05 01:58
believe me, Scream is the best player in the universe, he can fit on any team easily no matter what the role he can replacing ApEx the entryfrager, even scream is not an entryfrager he can replacing Bodyy and NBK as support, even scream is not a support player he can replacing shox as an IGL, even he is not an IGL he can even replacing kennyS the star AWPer even he is not an AWPer! that's SCREAM boiiisss!!!!

SK will defeat them anyway anytime.
2017-07-05 01:18
What are you talking about? When they picked Maikel they were always good. They became bad after they kicked him. Pyth was terrible, they put him in shitty role that didnt fit him, ofc they didnt perform. + they have 2 new players now. Its not honeymoon, they are completly rebuilding the team from the scratch, new defaults, new executes, new mindset, new roles, everything.
2017-07-05 08:44
NiP failed at Inferno Pantamera and Maikelele sucked in terms of fragging, and they kicked him right after. But it was rather all about his attitude, because not only NiP, but also fnatic hate Maikelele for a reason, so he was doomed. pyth wasn't shining in terms of fragging, but with him NiP won DH Malmo (defeated Astralis, Virtus.Pro and Na`Vi) and IEM Okland (defeated FaZe and SK), so they were looking strong, but they're just inconsistent as fuck.
2017-07-05 10:30
wait. so just cuz lele sucked in one tournament that means he is shit and that NiP fucked up and it was the end of honeymoon? lmao, you think you have good tournaments 24/7? they were godlike with lele, not just honeymoon, they also won with him while he was standing in. on the other hand, it was a honeymoon with pyth since he is truly a terrible player, but its not the thing right now with draken and rez. draken 2nd best awper in sweden and rez seems to be very promising, more than pyth ever was.
2017-07-05 10:57
I'm repeating it: they kicked him because something is really wrong with him. He got deceived by olofm dennis and KRiMZ back in LGB days when they agreed to leave LGB but after Maikelele and SKYTTEN left the other three stayed and invited twist and cype. Then flusha was asked if Maikelele was an option for his team, and flusha said that Maikelele wasn't a person you'd like to have in your team and that his fnatic teammates agreed with him on that. Maikelele got kicked from NiP for the lack of professionalism (c). Who knows, may be they failed at Inferno exactly because they got mad enough at him and were thinking of getting rid of him. It wasn't about the honeymoon, it was about Maikelele's personality. But you can't deny the fact that once they change a player they start looking stronger, but then they're always back to sucking cocks.
2017-07-05 11:05
yes, but u cant compare it to draken and rez, as i said multiple times, they are rebuilding the team around those 2. its not honeymoon what is happening now, they just changed their approach to the game
2017-07-05 12:01
The core 3 remains the same. So, when they start sucking in 6 months like usually in the past, you will say that it wasn't a honeymoon because they changed 2 players instead of 1, or because no team can be consistently good [with SK proving you wrong]?
2017-07-05 12:07
you dont understand, right? f0rest never sucked, gtr and xizt did. But now they are rebuilding the team around draken and rez, they are gonna be their supports and everything, they will give them the best positions. The 3 core doesnt matter since they are not the "main players" anymore. They arent experiencing honeymoon right now, they just found a new style of playing and got a new approach to the game. Is it so hard to understand?

Ofc they are. They all know that stupid pussy pussy scrubs Astralis are analyzing every second of Faze, Fnatic, G2, SK, North mathes. So they just throw and don't give a shit about Cologne anymore. Really sad valve took major from them since Cologne was always the best major imo except 2016 which was just joke not a Major with all top teams in slump, with stand-ins or injured players.

Nobody realises that every fucking team is not showing strategies. Theyre just saving strats for the major and NiP isnt cause they wont go
2017-07-05 01:23
Saving strats is the most retarded thing, stop saying this nosense

Its fucking true. I guess you are new on esports but many pro players have said this on interviews. When they are playing a non-important tournament close to a major they simply save the strategies

people claim its honeymoon, but they dont know whats happening with NiP, they are completly rebuilding the team, they will get only better, no way they get worse again.

Totally different NIP, no more bot Burger and whiff pyth and suddenly they are 2:0 in the first event. Don't forget how legendary F0rest is, 29 years old and still playing at that level, what a talent he was 10 years ago
2017-07-05 10:19
LET'S GO NINJAS f0rest is a legend no matter what Rez and Draken so good #GONINJAS

What's funny in this thread is how people are so fast to judge a team on a single Bo1..... NiP isn't great again yet, they have a lot to prove, and if they manage to qualify, they'll get rekt in Bo3, as i suspect they dont get a mapool beside Cache... And as i said, you have a team with talented players, against teams that don't have data to analyse their playstyle. Of course they will win at the begining.
