mousesports edge past FaZe in overtime

MIRAA
July 17th, 2017 13:35

mousesports have put FaZe on the brink of elimination at PGL Major Krakow after picking up a 19-15 victory on Train.

FaZe started out strongly on the CT side, picking up the pistol round without letting their opponents plant the bomb and following that up with both anti-ecos.

mousesports responded by winning the first gun round, leaving FaZe strapped for cash for two rounds in a row. The next full gun round went neck and neck, with Robin "ropz" Kool ultimately clutching a 1v2 to put his team in the lead for the first time in the game.

Tomáš "oskar" Šťastný's men refused to take their off the gas and increased their lead to 7-3. After losing the next two rounds, mousesports picked up their eighth round of the half and reset FaZe's economy. It looked like mousesports would secure a comfortable lead, but FaZe hit back on eco before Nikola "NiKo" Kovač pulled off a tripe kill in the final round to keep the deficit to a minimum.

mousesports defeat FaZe in a nail-biting match

The second half began with mousesports taking the pistol round despite finding themselves with three heavily tagged players in a 3v3 situation. A third-round buy put FaZe back in the game, but they could not get enough rounds to equalise the score.

A scrappy period then followed as rounds went back and forth, with mousesports then gaining a firm grip on the game as they increased their lead to 13-10. FaZe's offense finally woke up, allowing them to bag five rounds in a row, but mousesports won the final two rounds of regulation to force overtime.

With Chris "chrisJ" de Jong and Denis "denis" Howell stepping up, mousesports won all three rounds on the CT side to hit match point. FaZe now had no room for error, but they could do nothing against an A split from their opponents, suffering their second defeat of the tournament after just two matches.

I imagine motivation in the team was at an all time low. After all, when the team did good, people would just credit NiKo and call it his success. Plus, I don't think he was a good IGL
2017-07-17 15:29
I dont have a clue wether his strategies were actually good or not, but as an ingame leader you should definitely NOT be raging at your team. No wonder they lost motivation and yes he took all the credit.

well you can't compare the IGL stats with the main awp. Allu is supposed to do alot more and also misses some key shots. I would also consider k1o to be replaced more likely than karrigan...

2017-07-17 13:47
yeah I know.. I dont rly get the point of kicking karrigan though, every team needs a good IGL nowadays and only a few teams are lucky to have players like Fallen, who does the calling and is a beast with awp aswell. I think karrigan is doing allright, could frag more but he lead Faze to several finals...

yea dumb excuse is just dumb...
2017-07-17 14:35
yea because when you're flying every week sleeping in other bed every week eating just restaurant food and playing the game most of the time for many hours isn't tiring, same was with SK and even FalleN said that: hltv.org/news/20991/fallen-starting-to-f.. a little bit of burnout because of playing all the tournaments and if you're not home for that long time or you just go there for some days and go back to tournament then you can feel tired, i didn't say they should play like shit because of that but you need to understand that they'll not play at 100% because of that
2017-07-17 14:38
and yet sk is the best team in the world and they won last tournament...what a flawless logic
2017-07-17 14:39

too much tournaments ISNT an excuse for faze(2nd best team according to hltv ranking) loosing to big(17th) on freaking MAJOR... the most prestigious tournament.just no...and even if you will disagree(because you are probably their fan bcs of rain),its still their own fault that they want to attend every single event

Sorry, my bad. I read it “strongest”. They’re good, I’d even say that oskar is the best. FaZe has Allu and sometimes karrigan plays w/AWP but he doesn’t seem like he is in some-kind-of great form for it (NiKo sometimes plays AWP as well). But oskar and ChrisJ are AWPers usually, so, it’s always better for mousesports to pick that map.

Because allu missed two AWP shots. Obviously that's much worse than missing every single shot. In reality though it's because hltv.org is filled with 16 year olds who started playing in 2014 and now consider themselves experts, when in reality they don't understand the game at all and just tag along with the opinions of the ridiculously biased commentators, who were again riding allu all game long, even when kioshima had half as many frags.

I mean, provided they get to the playoff, it's only their fault if they lost two matches. It's not like neither Big or mouz were those "impossible teams to beat".
2017-07-17 14:03
Yep, of course. I´m not worried about FaZe. But it would be bad for us, viewers. It would be better these teams facing each other at least in semis, not quarters, that´s my point. But there´s nothing to do. FaZe makes this bullshit.

Yeah I get your point, but this means that we will have very exciting quarters and semi finals. Anyway it's a major so in a sense it's always that way :D

Major <3 Sk x Ast Big x c9 Fnatic x VP I´m excited with these matches today. Big and c9 are in a good form; about fnatic and VP, I want to see what the polish will show (good draw for them this moment).

I'm really hoping that VP plays well against Fnatic. Sk vs Ast is going to be sick and Big v C9 is going to be close but BIG have the upper edge imho (more structured, more consistent).

Tough games for FaZe. They really should have close it out when they had the match points. If someone can still make it back from 0-2, its them. Well played Mousesports!

What the fuck are you doing, Faze... Please. PLEASE. Get it the fuck together. #2 on HLTV and the team I'm rooting for, and you go 0-2 against BIG and Mousesports? What the shit? But yeah durr they're obviously throwing so they can go 3-2 and let somebody else take out SK hopefully before the final xdxddxd I wish, but FaZe is really getting me depressed, and it's the SECOND day of the major. Come on, guys.

Faze will actually go 3-2, mark my words. They won't get to anything relevant in the playoffs though.

Doesn't matter honestly mouse haven't won anything and never will, people saying their better without NiKo... they had way more success with NiKo in the team stop being delusional.
