seized: "I think roster changes are necessary"
Natus Vincere captain Denis "seized" Kostin has acknowledged that roster changes "are necessary" for the team to overcome their current slump of form.
After eight consecutive playoff appearances at Majors, Natus Vincere have lost their Legend status, and Denis "seized" Kostin admits that changes could be in the pipeline following a trophyless period that goes back as far as ESL One New York 2016.
"I have a couple of thoughts in my head [about what changes are needed], I think I cannot fulfil the captain role in the long run.
"It's best if the team has another leader, but I do not see anyone else from our team who can do it. Therefore, it must be someone who is already a captain.
"In CS:GO, the current best captains have been playing for 10 or 15 years, and they have been captain for most of their career. There are no examples of captains appearing out of nowhere."
seized then confessed that he would like for Na`Vi to re-sign Danylo "Zeus" Teslenko, who was replaced by Aleksandr "s1mple" Kostyliev in August 2016 and has gone on to help Gambit to win two DreamHack Open titles and to reach the playoffs at two consecutive Majors.
"It is a difficult question," he said. "Yes, [I'd want to see him return as captain].
The Russian player has averaged a 0.93 Rating in offline matches since the start of the year, which has earned him plenty of criticism from fans.
Questioned about his dip in form, he stressed that he can put in great performances again "without certain circumstances."
"I realize that I have been underperforming lately, but I know that I can play as well as I did a year ago," he noted.
"Those circumstances include being an ingame leader and doing other things within the team.
"If the team decides to kick me, then that's the way it has to be. I will accept any decision, but I know that, if I get removed and join another team, I will play at the same level as before."
