Heroic to DH Atlanta final over HellRaisers
Heroic are the first grand finalist of DreamHack Open Atlanta after beating HellRaisers 2-1 (12-16 on Mirage, 16-8 on Inferno and 16-3 on Overpass).
The first semi-final of the day kicked off on Mirage, HellRaisers' map pick, with Heroic getting out to an early 4-0 lead as Counter-Terrorists. The European mixture then responded with their first round of the game, but the Danes continued to rack up rounds to eventually secure a dominant 8-1 lead, forcing HellRaisers to call a tactical pause.
After that, Kirill "ANGE1" Karasiow's men finally managed to string rounds together, eventually reducing the gap to 6-9 before half-time.
A triple-kill from ANGE1 helped his team secure the second pistol round. That round sparked a great run from HellRaisers, who would win five of the next six rounds to take a 12-10 lead. Heroic would go on to find the equaliser, but HellRaisers remained in the driving seat and closed out the map with a 16-12 scoreline.
Patrik "Zero" Žúdel opened up Inferno, Heroic's pick, with a clean quad-kill to stop his opponents from pushing B in the pistol round. After losing the following two, the Danish squad continuously broke through HellRaisers' defense to secure an 8-3 lead.
The European mixture then finally managed to respond with two more round wins, but Heroic remained in control of proceedings and finished off the first half with a 10-5 lead.
Heroic further added to their lead by winning the pistol round and the next anti-eco. HellRaisers still grabbed two rounds in a row, but after buying up the Danes went on another great run and locked down the map, 16-8.
Heroic started the decider map, Overpass, by winning the pistol round and the subsequent anti-ecos. HellRaisers then picked up the first gun round, but Jakob "JUGi" Hansen did not let them get any momentum as the 20-year-old player clutched two 1v2 situations in the fifth and in the seventh rounds. From that point, things were much easier for Marco "Snappi" Pfeiffer and co., easily grabbed a 13-2 half-time lead.
Now as Terrorists, HellRaisers won the pistol round with a nearly-flawless B execution. However, a triple-kill from Nikolaj "niko" Kristensen with a Desert Eagle in the following round completely crushed HellRaisers' hopes, leading Heroic to finish off the series, 2-1, with a dominant 16-3 scoreline on the decider map.
