Movistar Riders sign ex-KPI

Movistar Riders have announced that they have completed the signing of the former KPI team.

The Spanish team had been widely expected to join Movistar Riders after parting ways with KPI, under whom they had established themselves as the strongest side in the country.

The team represent a considerable upgrade from Movistar Riders' previous squad, who finished sixth at ESL Masters Spring. The Spanish organisation, which was founded in January by mobile carrier company Movistar, is also heavily involved in many other esports games, including League of Legends, Hearthstone and Call of Duty.

ex-KPI join Movistar Riders

Alejandro "ALEX" Masanet's men were recently seen in action at DreamHack Valencia, where they defeated Envy in the first round of the group stage before being eliminated following defeats to Heroic and to the French team.

Meanwhile, Movistar Riders have confirmed that Chevi "Spanisfury" Gonzalez will stay on as the team's head coach, with the roster looking as follows:

Spain Javier "dragunov" Sánchez
Spain Francesc "donQ" Savall Garcia
Spain Juan "meisoN" Carlos Chacón
Spain Alejandro "ALEX" Masanet
Spain Alejandro "mopoz" Fernández-Quejo Cano

As a spanish i can tell, movistar is a big multinational company since behind it there is the ISP Telefonica, so the amount of money they can get from the sponsors will be much higher for sure. I don't like to look like an advertising cause as comms company they have terribly high prices such for internet, cable... so they can burn in hell and I will always have a little bit of shame on me every time i see their logo. Btw, they not only sponsors the cycling team, Yamaha MotoGP team too, and many Spanish Basket teams, and some individual sportsmen all around too.

2017-07-25 13:27

Movistar is a huge company. Google it. They also have one of the strongest cycling teams.
2017-07-24 19:24
I do not see how that's relevant. They could be the biggest company on Earth and sponsor every single sports team in the world, the name of the org would still sound ridiculous as fuck to me.
