ESG Tour Mykonos 2017 with ~$240,000 in September

CS:GO tournament platform PvPRO have announced an eight-team tournament with €200,000 (~$240,000) on offer, taking place on the island of Mykonos in Greece, from September 7-10.

The Greek tournament will be the first stop of a series of tournaments called Electronic Sports Global Tour (ESG Tour), with top three teams from the €200,000 event receiving direct invites to the next stop.

ESG Tour Mykonos will begin with a GSL group stage on the first two days, featuring best-of-one matches on the upper side and best-of-three's in elimination and decider matches, followed by single elimination, best-of-three semi-finals, and a best-of-five grand final.

The Destiny Villa will serve as the venue as well as accommodation for all eight teams

The organizers have invited seven teams directly, with the last coming from an invite-only closed qualifier featuring four European teams, set to take place on August 17-18.

Among the invited teams are recent Major winners Gambit, as well as current number one team according to our ranking, SK, as you can see from the team list for the tournament running from September 7-10:

Brazil SK Poland Virtus.pro
United States Liquid  Europe mousesports
Denmark Heroic  Germany BIG
Kazakhstan Gambit    Europe Qualifier

You can see the prize distribution below:

1. €100,000
2. €40,000
3-4. €20,000
5-8. €5,000

The Destiny Villa, which overlooks the Aegean Sea, will not only serve as the event's venue but will also accommodate all eight teams, with the organizers planning to have the location "fuel a plethora of happenings besides competing, guaranteed to thrill both the players and the community watching from home."

"ESG Tour | Mykonos 2017 will not just be another ordinary event. The stunning view, relaxing atmosphere and great service will make it special and memorable for the players, who are the ones making eSports what it is today: fascinating, enjoyable and fun," Stamos Venios, CEO of PvPRO, explained in the press release.

ESG Tour released a trailer for the Mykonos tournament, narrated by Paul "ReDeYe" Chaloner:

"One of the biggest majors" Yeah right. A major in which every team was in a slump. And got there by exploiting a well known bug. Despicable team. I thought the reputation of germans as cheaters was a well known meme, but its actually true.

1. $1,000,000 prize pool and u say its not one of the biggest majors, ok 2. They did use the glitch against C9 and faze which was unsportsmanlike and I don't agree with it however they beat SK, the number 1 team, without using the bug 3. F3 lul

That was when they were just formed. While F3 had very experienced players and played together for a long time. BIG would beat F3 in a bo3 nowadays easily.
2017-08-04 19:09
someone from andorra wants to talk about successfull cs go ... and BIG had after 6 months those successes: -Winner of the European Minor -Second at Farmskins Championship -Second in Mountai Dew League -> advancing to the ESL Pro League (where is F3? :P) -Winner of iGame Invitational (after less than 1 month the team was founded) and second at Dreamhack Leipzig (and this after just around a half month of playing together ... lost to a team where the core played together since 2k15 and 2 joiners in the middle of 2016) Oh yeah i forgot a 3-1 swiss score in the offline qualifier, 3-0 on the major group stage beating 3 of the top 4 from cologne 1 week ago ;) )

European minor? Wtf is that? That event with teams like dignitrash. Gr8 achivement. Farmskins? Beating North academy and Red reserve. Losing to the only other team that was their level aka penta. Igame invitational teams: big, igame, epsillon norse fnatic academy and ination. 3-0 at major exploiting a bug. Gr8 achivements.

LUL, so F3 (a team that has been there like forever) beat BIG 1 month after they formed and now you say they are a better team? Look at recent results like the Major qualifier, the Major itself and the last season of mountain dew league in which BIG qualified for EPL (F3 was 13th place) and you will easily see that BIG is a better Team at the moment (of course only if you take off your fanglasses xD)

I just hope that they've got a nice talent similar to what CS_Summit had. It was amazing, chill and entertaining.
2017-08-04 22:52
Uh, what? Unknown organization, questionable invites, remote paradise location... this all looks a little suspect. Although PGL were nobodies before the Major circuit was introduced, so let's see where this goes

If this turns out to be like cs summit only with better teams i cant wait. Summit was one of the best tournaments to watch this year for me. The relaxed athmosphere between players and casters is fun
