Immortals & Gambit grab wins in Sweden

Immortals and Gambit came out on top of the third round of matches at DreamHack Masters Malmö, defeating fnatic (16-14 on Cobblestone) and mousesports (16-6 on Train), respectively.

In the first match of Group C, Immortals began on the Counter-Terrorist side of Cobblestone and quickly got up to 5-0, as they took no time forming their double AWP setup after winning the pistol round.

The next few rounds went back and forth as Vito "kNgV-" Giuseppe continued to put up numbers with the big green gun, while fnatic got away with an A attack and a B split in a low forcebuy.

Immortals grab their first win at DreamHack Masters Malmö

The score was 9-2 when the Swedes strung a few rounds together thanks to breaking their opponents economy for five rounds in the half. fnatic lowered the deficit to three rounds after the following pistol round, but the first gunround went the other way.

With another half-buy win, Maikil "Golden" Selim's squad got back on their feet and equalized the scoreline at 12-12. The next two rounds were split once more, while Henrique "HEN1" Teles's triple got his team in the lead at 14-13, but a flashy 2v5 from Freddy "KRIMZ" Johansson and Robin "flusha" Rönnquist made it even again.

It was Ricardo "boltz" Prass's quad-kill during an attack on the A site that made the difference in the end, as fnatic had little resources in the last round and Immortals picked up the 16-14 win.

In Group D, two debuting teams, mousesports and Gambit, faced on Train, with the latter starting on the CT side. Dauren "AdreN" Kystaubayev's five got off to 4-1 after the first two rounds were exchanged, and continued to batter away on the European mixture with a crushing defense.

Chris "chrisJ" de Jong & co. couldn't avoid getting reset time and time again after they won a round, which allowed Gambit to keep the economy on their side and pick up an 11-4 half.

This time it was mousesports who turned things around at the beginning of the half, winning the second-round forcebuy to get to six. However, that was all she wrote for Tomáš "oskar" Šťastný's team, as Gambit strung the remaining four rounds together to advance to Group D's winners' match at 16-6.

Maybe in the sense that he's a really good Brazilian player but his style is different, a lot more aggressive. Kinda crazy how this guy might not have had this spotlight on him if FNX hadn't left, he's crazy good.
