Immortals to DreamHack Malmö playoffs over fnatic

Immortals are the final team to secure a spot in the DreamHack Masters Malmo playoffs after defeating home side fnatic on two maps.

The series began on Cache, fnatic's map pick, with the Swedish team jumping out to a 7-1 lead as Immortals simply could not handle the pace and power of the Terrorists. The Brazilians then finally tightened up their defenses to hold off the Swedes for five rounds in a row, but they could not tie up the score as Jonas "Lekr0" Olofsson clutched a 1v2 situation before Robin "flusha" Rönnquist picked up a triple-kill to give his team their ninth round of the game.

When the sides switched, the game changed dramatically. fnatic were able to stop Immortals for the first time only eight rounds into the half, and then they had to deal with an economic reset. With the momentum in their favour, Immortals quickly reached map point with a triple kill from Henrique "HEN1" Teles before comfortably claiming their 16th round.

Immortals beat fnatic in convincing fashion

flusha opened up the second map, Train, with a triple kill in the B site, helping his team to win the pistol round with ease. fnatic eventually carried that momentum into the gun rounds, winning two in a row to bring the score to 5-0.

It was only then that Immortals' offense finally came to life, with the Major runners-up securing three rounds in a row. fnatic were then reminded of just how costly mistakes at this level of competition are as they let advantageous situations, including a 4v2 and a 1v3, go to waste four rounds in a row. That took a serious dent in fnatic's economy and greatly affected their morale, with the half ending in a close 8-7 scoreline in Immortals' favour.

The second half was a complete massacre. fnatic's only round came when they were already down 13-7, courtesy of a trio of kills from Freddy "KRIMZ" Johansson, and it was instantly countered by the Brazilians. With no money in the bank, Maikil "Golden" Selim's were powerless to prevent Immortals from running away with the lead.

You think immortals deliberately lost to g2 so that they wouldn't have to risk facing sk? So that both Brazil teams can go as deep into the tournament as possible
2017-09-02 11:26
Immortals and Gambit. Proving dedication and unknown talent > Companies worth millions.
