North to Malmö semis over Immortals

North became the last semi-finalists of DreamHack Masters Malmö following a 2-0 affair with Immortals (Inferno 16-7, Mirage 19-17).

North kicked off the last quarter-final of DreamHack Masters Malmö with a quick 4-0 lead on the CT side of Inferno, surviving a couple of forcebuy attempts from Immortals following a clean pistol round.

The Brazilians' slow pace yielded three rounds in a row, but their success in the first half ended there, as North racked up round after round with ease, putting up a dominant 12-3 scoreline.

Another clean pistol round going the Danes' way put Immortals in a difficult position at 14-3, and although they survived for the next four rounds, it was too big of a lead to lose for North, who closed map one at 16-7.

North move on to Malmö semi-finals

René "cajunb" Borg was the one to start off the second map, Mirage, with a triple in the pistol round, allowing his team to go up 4-0 quickly as Immortals saved three weapons in the first gunround. With a saved AWP, Henrique "HEN1" Teles picked up a triple in the next to put his team on the board, although their economy got reset once North replied immediately.

A forcebuy victory for the Brazilian side was a saving grace, as the Danes walked into a stacked bombsite and Immortals started getting the edge with several rounds in a row, including one in which Lucas "LUCAS1" Teles clutched a 1v1. Their streak was put to a stop at six in a row, when Philip "aizy" Aistrup stepped up with an incredible 1v5 clutch, helping North secure seven rounds in total on the offense before switching off to the other side.

The map seeemed firmly in the hands of Mathias "MSL" Lauridsen's squad from there, with Kristian "k0nfig" Wienecke clinching the pistol round for his team with a quick quad-kill in B apps. The aforementioned duo later won a 2v4 as well, climbing to a 14-8 lead. Immortals began mounting a comeback and managed to push the match to overtime despite the initial deficit with a few well-executed strategies.

Ricardo "boltz" Prass's team's efforts were all for nothing in the end, as North put up a perfect defense for a 3-0 first half of the overtime and clinched the series in the very last round of the second half.

All Brazilians lost :( So sad, but on Mykonos SK will destroy and win this championship. SK is lost is a disaster, all for a 2-0 for SK, and they choked on Inferno :( #RUNSKG

Isn't Lanbit and Navi going to be at Mykonos? If so, it won't be that easy.
2017-09-03 04:26
Yeah SK seems obsessed with these tier 2/1,5 events where they can win easy money and good ranking points. They always struggle in the big 16 team tournaments. Need small ones with fewer games to shine.
