Liquid take down SK to advance to Mykonos grand final

Liquid have advanced to the grand final at ESG Tour Mykonos after beating SK 2-0 (16-12 on Inferno and 16-10 on Cobblestone).

The second semi-final at ESG Tour Mykonos started on Inferno with Liquid on the T-side. The North American squad won the pistol round with Jonathan "EliGE" Jablonowski's 1vs2 clutch and secured four more rounds before SK could win a round (5-1).

After SK picked up their second round, they had a 5vs3 advantage but Josh "jdm64" Marzano's quad kill gave the round to Liquid (6-2). SK trailed 6-9 at halftime and lost the second half pistol round after Nick "nitr0" Cannella got a triple kill.

Liquid lounged their way to the grand final

SK grew into the game in the second half and got within one round of Liquid after Fernando "fer" Alvarenga won a 1vs4 and Gabriel "FalleN" Toledo secured a 1vs3 (13-12). However, Liquid were mentally strong and closed out the game with consecutive triple kills from Peter "stanislaw" Jarguz (16-12).

Cobblestone started with jdm64 and stanislaw's 2vs4 clutch to win the pistol round for their CT-sided team. SK replied with two rounds in a row to take the lead but Liquid were firing on all cylinders and won the half 10-5. stanislaw played a cruical role as he got multiple triple kills and clutches a 1vs2.

SK couldn't win their own map pick Cobblestone

SK won the first three rounds of the second half but EliGE's triple kill in the first weapon round prevented the Brazilians from getting their fourth round in a row on the CT-side (11-8).

FalleN & company, unfazed, stopped Liquid in the following round as they trailed 9-11. However, SK couldn't tie the game and Liquid closed out the map 16-10, winning the series 2-0 and advancing to the grand final.

Why would they change players? Wow they lost 1 tournament now let's change everything! Please. Defeats happen, CS is unpredictable right now. All they have to do now is move on to the next. There'll always be a next event, so, no worries.
2017-09-09 22:45
Apart from VP,everyone is following this pattern of changing players every 2 months... VP same team since 3-4 years, still in top 10 lul
2017-09-09 22:48
#99
 |
Brazil vinnyzeraNTC
And I'm gonna tell you that changing players every 4 to 6 months like 80% of teams right now doesn't pay off. That's one of the main reasons we have such an unpredictable professional scene right now, because teams can't maintain their players. The only constant since 2015 are LG/SK and VP figuring out between the best, every time. If that's not proof that sticking with the same team pays off I don't know what is.
2017-09-09 22:50
And then you mention VP as the best? Do you even watch CS? VP isn't even in EPL anymore, and if wasn't for that legend spot, they would be a t2 team getting no direct invites to tournaments. You have to be trolling people..
2017-09-09 22:57
#166
 |
Brazil vinnyzeraNTC
I'm not even gonna waste time here because you clearly have no clue about what you're talking about... VP and LG/SK have indeed been consistent top 10 teams since 2015 and if you can't see that then I think it's you who doesn't know anything about CS.
2017-09-10 01:00
Your not going to waste your time here? You commented smart guy, that's time wasted. Nobody is saying they are not consistent teams. Lately though, not even close. SK was dominating teams and now they can't get past a quarter final, minus this tournament which didn't have one. That's 3 tournaments in a row, THREE. What will you say next tournament?....consistent? And VP has not been consistent at all. Failing to make EPL, struggling in ECS, failing in Cologne, failing in Malmo, losing show matches and clash for cash. Their only bright spot lately is this tournament playing for 3rd/4th, and the major losing to Immortals. Wake up man, your head's in the sand. If you think placing 4-8th in tournaments and failing to make leagues is consistent, what's inconsistent? Winning?
2017-09-10 07:18
1 tournament? This is the third tournament in a row they haven't made it past the semi's. And that's only because this tournament didn't have a quaterfinals. SK need's a change and Fallen know's it.

Totally deserved. SK played this tournament really bad since the first match. In fact, they shouldn't even have reached double digits in any of these two maps vs Liquid. Only god knows how they managed to comeback against mouz, but that was just an omen for what they would show right afterwards. This was their worst performance since they signed with SK.

Yeah they're almost there with the formula and were almost there with the level of play, but almost just doesn't cut it at this level. Liquid on the other hand played a really high level in every round, didn't see even small mistakes really.. SK got as close as they did because when the pressure is on they can perform, but they didn't have close to 100%, got too far behind and economic situations were terrible, Liquid woulda been so happy as the games went on and things kept just going their way enough to be really dominant for a large portion and strong enough to finish them off. Respect. mouz too, except their CT sides are very unrefined they will be a great team in a few months, so good for them too.. but I think Liquid are showing they can finally get there, been a long hard road but they got everything in place finally. ZEWSGOD earning his salary, Liquid great org having ton of success at the moment, congrats to them and especially if they win this final, I think they're clear favourite to do so. EGB has it a 50/50 game in the betting, lot to like about both teams, deserve their results dunno why people have to get so dramatic, the game is often won or lost on small details and the scene is so competitive and deep since 2016 GLHF, and looking forward to SK going out there to prove a point in 3rd place match

Eh, I wouldn't be worried about it. The moment CS:GO starts going downhill, Valve will announce another CS and people will come back. Still, we're still far from that to happen but I agree to a certain point with shroud - the devs are accelerating the process.

The worst problem IMO was always their attitude to forcebuys and having the pistols so OP, as well as ignoring obvious issues like jumpscout lol.. but they ARE a great developer and they are putting real quality changes in place lately, really happy with the rek9 becoming an actual pistol not rushgod bs. When people adapt and aren't in the habit of using it how you used to, we will see a fair few people use it again, cheaper than a deagle and more accurate 1tap beast in many spots, can still spam it into a general area or slowly tap a few shots into the body Funny looking back, I trained myself to tap like a mad**** because of rek9 lol.. used to spam it way too slow and did some m1 spam training while trying to aim a few spots running into sites.. suddenly it became the only pistol I ever wanted. I'm not gonna cry its gone, not gonna live in the past.. I love the 1tap potential it still has. Valve get shit on way too much because its the easy thing for everyone to do

I agree that people are overreacting way too mich in some situations but the pistol situation was something that the community was right about. But I don't blame the devs as much as I blame valve. I mean, Dota has over 200 devs while CS still has below 50.

Fair enough, but Dota2 has a gigantic equation if you look at all the abilities.. so many variables and that's just the metagame to manage so balance is not a huge issue. Is below 50 really that bad ? we don't need tons of new assets like maps and characters every X months (of course new maps can always turn out good but community ftw).. Understand the opinion though, CSGO deserves a giant team and some epic efforts. With the money and effort the cheater problems could be all but solved, consult the AV industry and create a heuristic/cloud anticheat that can detect almost anything if enabled (for high perf PCs only) and upload encrypted/suspicious code for deep analysis on the cloud if users don't enable it or the heuristic requires the cloud. And on top of that revamp Overwatch to "hire" the best Overwatchers in the community, and reward them if they put a lot of time in. I'm sure lots of people would put in hours a day for the nice rare skins if they are fair and competent as jurors ! :D Would be a massive undertaking, but worth serious discussion and lets call it a.. feasability study ? doitValve

Very nicely put. However, I do not believe that the CSGO devs should be the same as the dota 2 counterpart that would do the things that you have stated. However, a lot of people from the dota community do not realised how lucky they are that they have somebody as qualified as IceFrog when it comes to hero, item and map balance. It would be nice if we had somebody as him when it comes to map and weapon balance.

the game is dying, because cs players discovered an alternative called PUBG...but that will become stale soon as well...and then back to csgo I bought pubg and overwatch both, overwatch is a pain to play....because everyone wants to be a dps carry...the game will be irrelevant soon anyways...next is pubg's turn...

Well, around 150 people in my steam friendlist who used to play csgo for 5-6 hours a day...are now playing pubg whenever i check...so yes, csgo is losing a lot of players to pubg... The indian servers are a mess, smurfs, hackers everywhere.... its just smurfs and hackers now....the main reason for people getting disillusioned.

There isn't any Major on the line. They yet can get rid of a player exchanging for some one better atm. there is room for improvement, not the same for other teams.
