DreamHack has issued a statement about the decision to have Immortals forfeit the first map of the grand final in Montreal.
With a quick 16-9 victory on Cobblestone, North were crowned champions, winning their first event since joining the organisation created by F.C. Copenhagen and Nordisk Film at the start of the year.
In a statement, DreamHack explained that the Brazilian team had been informed that the final would start one hour after the second semi-final, featuring North and CLG, had concluded, as part of the "accelerated scheduled which the entire tournament has been running on."
With the second semi-final ending after just two maps, DreamHack changed the starting time of final to 21:30. Fifteen minutes past that time, Immortals still were not ready to play, forcing them to forfeit the first map of the final. The team was then given "an additional 15 minutes to be ready", with the second map starting only at 21:56.
