TheMongolz qualify for IEM Oakland

TheMongolz beat MVP PK 2-0 (16-6 Mirage, 16-14 Inferno), to win the IEM Oakland 2017 South-East Asia Qualifier and secure a spot at the LAN in November.

The IEM Oakland 2017 qualifiers were the first ESL qualifiers to use their new ruleset, allowing teams to compete outside of their region if providing valid reasons. The new rules meant that Chiefs and MVP PK competed in the South-East Asian qualifiers, with both teams making deep runs.

As TYLOO are on a European bootcamp and many Chinese teams are busy with the eXTREMESLAND China Finals, one of the favorites for the qualifier was TheMongolz, but Temuulen "Zilkenberg" Battulga and co. were dangerously close to elimination in the round-of-16, edging out Signature only after overtime.

zilkenberg and co. are set to attend another international event

After four one-sided quarter finals, MVP PK took on Recca in the first semi-final, picking up a win over the Indonesian side thanks to a masterclass showing from Hae-Sung "HSK" Kim. In the other semi, TheMongolz took on Chiefs, but the Australian side wasn't up to par and were eliminated after a 16-8 on Train and 16-11 on Inferno.

Enkhtaivan "Machinegun" Lkhagva and co. started the final on point, taking over the momentum from a confident semi-final showing and outclassing MVP PK on Mirage with a 14-1 Terrorist half. The massive lead was converted into a 16-6 win, with TheMongolz's good run continuing on their own map pick, Inferno.

MVP PK managed to recover from a 10-5 deficit after their CT half by winning the early rounds and tying up the match at 11-11 after putting TheMongolz in a tough economic situation. The match became frantic after that, with Min-Seok "zeff" Park winning a 1v3 afterplant on A, TheMongolz replying with an almost full-eco win, and MVP PK overruning the B site defense with a combination of pistols and armor.

With the score being 13-12 in their favor, TheMongolz won a crucial round by stopping the A split which helped them close out the match 16-14 in the end, securing the series and a spot at IEM Oakland 2017.

i still remember machinegun's time in splyce lel, and for my opinion on MVP: They still need work if they want to be a high tiered team and korean csgo teams are pretty much scarce as the only well known korean cs team is MVP and thats it

Did you see how they won a full eco round with glocks, against B.OO.T.S at Zen League this week? They fired Kim recently, so many would assume that it's too early for anyone to conclude that they hired a lousy coach. haha! time and tide can't wait for no man.
