TeamOne CEO: "Immortals thought trk & Maluk3 were too expensive"
TeamOne CEO Alexandre "kakavel" Peres has revealed that Immortals were put off by his asking price for duo Pedro "Maluk3" Campos and Alencar "trk" Rossato.
Immortals had identified the TeamOne duo as replacements for Henrique "HEN1" Teles and Lucas "LUCAS1" Teles, and engaged in talks with the Brazilian organisation right after the twin brothers requested to be moved to the bench.
However, as talks dragged on interminably, Immortals were forced to add Tempo Storm duo Bruno "shz" Martinelli and Lucas "DeStiNy" Bullo to their ESL Pro League roster to prevent disqualification from the tournament as they were also shunned in their attempt to lure Gustavo "yel" Knittel away from Luminosity.
With the Major finalists due to unveil Caio "zqkS" Fonseca and DeStiNy as permanent members, the TeamOne owner confirmed an approach from Immortals, who ended up being priced out of a move for his players.
"I said that they were not for sale and that, if the players were interested, Immortals would have to meet their release clauses, which they deemed too expensive.
"The negotiations with me were very smooth, but they experienced some difficulties because they wanted a transfer by a figure that matches the reality of the international market.
"So they talked to Maluk3 and tried to convince him to force a price cut."
Led by former mibr duo Bruno "bit" Lima and Rafael "pava" Pavanelli, TeamOne are widely regarded as the best Brazilian team that has not yet moved to North America in search for new opportunities. At the recent ESEA Season 25 Global Challenge, TeamOne went out 5th-6th following a close 16-14 defeat against Rise Nation in the group's decider match.
The TeamOne owner added that he is currently in talks with potential partners for 2018 with a view to improving the squad's conditions and funding a move to the United States - where they will stay for at least a year.
"Everything is heading in the right direction with a partner that should help us with that," he noted.
"I'd rather not say too much, and announce it only when everything is settled."
