naSu joins GODSENT as coach

Niko "naSu" Kovanen has been announced as GODSENT's new head coach, with the interim coach Graham "messioso" Pitt now set to focus on RFRSH's BLAST Pro Series.

This change marks the end of messioso's interim coaching of GODSENT which started by taking over the role from Alexander "rdl" Redl in June. Pitt confirmed that "RFRSH made the decision to enforce a change" in an interview at the PGL Major Main Qualifier, where his team finished 12-14th.

naSu will be coaching the Swedish side from now on

After adding Fredrik "freddieb" Buö and Dennis "dennis" Edman in hopes of reinvigorating the roster, GODSENT have now signed a head coach as well, adding Niko "naSu" Kovanen. The 27-year-old Finn will be stepping in after a successful run with PENTA, helping Miikka "suNny" Kemppi and co. secure a Major spot before the player break.

This is what naSu said in the announcement, which you can read in full here:

"First of all, I'd like to thank Miikka (suNny) who was the one who contacted me when I joined PENTA. We ended up qualifying to the Krakow Major via the hard route, starting from the open qualifiers online and completing the cinderella story in Bucharest. Losing suNny was a huge blow, and losing HS right after left us in a really bad situation, but nevertheless, we had a really successful and busy few months together and I'd like to thank each and every one for the good times we had. Huge thanks to everyone at PENTA aswell, particularly Felix who was always there for us."

"Right now I’m extremely happy and motivated to start working with GODSENT. It’s a team with an incredible potential and firepower in the lineup, and after having talked with Kasper Hvidt, Sports Director of RFRSH, I’m happy to say we share the same vision for the team and in regards to coaching in general, and I feel really good knowing I've got the full support of RFRSH behind me."

Meanwhile, Graham "messioso" Pitt will return to his position in RFRSH Entertainment, where he will be working on the BLAST Pro Series—with the first LAN event set to be held on November 24-25 in Copenhagen.

Pretty good move for Godsent, they need some more clarity on their playstyle. I see room for big improvement off of this.

The question is if he is capable of creating a real team that focus on teamwork. Godsent may have one of the most skilled lineups but won't get far with the ego.

The problem with Godsent is that they think they are better than others. Like dennis and twist tend to do stupid stuff time to time.
2017-10-04 15:13
yeah it's true but coach and freddie could fix it and they could be top5-6 team. just they have to kick znajder and disco, atleast one of them

Disco is very good hybrid player. Maybe he got some consistency problem but that can get fixed. Kicking znajder and adding hampus or fredyfrog would be huge upgrade. I see godsent much better than many top 10 team on paper.
2017-10-04 15:17
yes but just individually. they should watch Heroic or big for strats and teamplay. heroic and big doesn't have enough firepower but they can play their best. godsent playing a bit random/pug style. i want to see konfig and dennis in same team but it never happen probably

Totally agreed. Heroic and Big just showed us what you can do with teamwork. Imagine Godsent having teamwork with this sick lineup, would be a scary team

#56 You're very close! I'm pretty sure you are thinking about CPL World Tour, Spain (2005). I think they played bigi instead of naSu, who was arguably their most skilled player, but only 15 years old at the time. Nice to see naSu somewhat starting to thrive in the coaching department. :)
2017-10-04 16:08
Yup, I was in Spain for the event with them but bigi had to play, attended CPL World Tour in Brazil as a player in 05 tho
2017-10-04 17:09
True! Had to check it myself, instantly remembered how dissapointed I was when you guys busted out as badly as you did in Brazil, was super hyped to see you play without a stand-in "on CPL soil", with Kuppi beside the two bros. I guess you guys must have been, too. BTW: Did you guys have to negotiate in some devious way with the CPL org for you to play (I got a funny feeling in my belly you did..?), since you were still 15 at that point, not even close to 17, which was the usual age requirement for CPL back in those days. o_O
2017-10-05 04:28
E: Ó_ó u were actually 14 y/o, a little short of your 15th, when both of those tournaments took place. Crazy.
