ELEAGUE Premier playoffs viewer's guide

October 9th, 2017 17:58

With the ELEAGUE Premier 2017 playoffs drawing near, we have prepared a viewer’s guide that includes the bracket, prize distribution and broadcast talent.

The ELEAGUE Premier 2017 playoffs will take place from October 10-14 in Atlanta, Georgia, USA and will feature the eight teams who managed to book playoff spots by finishing in the top two places in the groups. The bulk of the tournament's $1 Million prize pool will be on the line, with the champions taking home $500,000.

NiKo's FaZe will take on EnVyUs in the quarter-finals

The teams who finished first in their group will take on a second placed-team from a different group in the quarter-finals. The single-elimination, best-of-three bracket ensures that teams from the same group will not be able to play each other until the grand final.

Below is the playoff bracket:

Europe FaZe vs. France EnVyUs
Denmark North vs. Denmark Heroic

United States Cloud9 vs. France G2
Denmark Astralis vs. Sweden fnatic

The first two days will feature the quarter-final, matches, while the third day will feature the two semi-finals. The grand final will be played a day later.

4am final. LUL NA, that's why Majors and such in NA are awful, you definitely could have had a more EU friendly time when EU is a big audience. It would have been better for almost everyone that the final would have started in the beginning of the afternoon in NA ...
2017-10-09 19:33
You don't need EU when you already have that sweet-sweet TV money. Don't forget they already did that one $250k BO3 at the exact time as these finals.

Then, f**k NA (especially ELeague, yeah i admit that their quality of production is (very) high, but the atmosphere sucks, you never get a wild crowd in a stadium with them as it happens in most european sports) destroying the game with massive amounts of money (the 250.000$ BO3 between VP and Astralis was utterly retarded considering the average cash prize on tourneys and the fact that VP was already playing like a Tier 3-4 at the time)
2017-10-09 19:45
They're just targeting people in different timezones, just like that Australian IEM. I don't think they're destroying anything, they're just developing it for one specific part of the audience. From the audience's other part perceptive it's kind of a necessary evil or a necessary bummer to be exact. You can't get CS popular in NA if you don't stream it at their time sometimes too (and it's not like a whole tournament is 4-5 a.m.)
2017-10-09 19:57
#103
 |
France StickyRice
Yeah understand that a NA tourney should target mainly NA audience but do it as much as other zones (especially Europe because many viewers) time friendly if you can. At least the final, especially when the final is not the same day as the 2 semis ...
2017-10-09 19:57
This is where TV thing get's in a way cos you definitely want the main match of the tournament to be broadcasted at the best possible time for the viewers of that broadcast, it's like the main thing of the whole idea. It's a necessary bummer, like I said. Who knows, maybe they're keeping their production level just so they can stay a TV material so at the end of the road it's a solid compromise.

Yeah maybe it's utopic to think the game can keep growing without the mainstream medias like TV channels with their producers seeing e-sport as great investment when they probably thought 3 years ago that gamers are "useless no lifes in their basement lul".
2017-10-09 20:05
It can but just to the certain level. And with Valve not giving a shit about their game on a development level of issue we need every growing possibility we can get lol.
2017-10-09 20:09
