Space Soldiers qualify for SL i-League Invitational Shanghai

With a 2-0 victory over HAVU in the grand final of the European closed qualifier, Space Soldiers have booked their place at SL i-League Invitational Shanghai 2017.

The last qualifier for the Chinese event saw Space Soldiers and HAVU reach the decisive stage, with Envy, mousesports and Heroic among the teams who were knockout out along the way.

The best-of-three series started began on Overpass, which went to overtime as HAVU could not deal the finishing blow when up 14-11. The first overtime could not decide a winner, but, in the second one, the Turkish team picked up four teams to take the map at 22-20.

MAJ3R's Space Soldiers won the qualifier without dropping a map

Cache saw Space Soldiers take control of proceedings after losing the first two rounds of the game. Down 2-3, HAVU came close to restoring parity, but Buğra "Calyx" Arkın pulled off an impressive 1v3 clutch to keep his team in the lead.

The Turkish team continued to exert their dominance across the map, bringing the scoreline to a 9-3 advantage. HAVU then found a lifeline as they picked up two rounds in a row, with the final round of the half going to Space Soldiers.

Carrying their momentum into the second half, Space Soldiers won five rounds straight to hit match point. HAVU would then get a round on the board, but it was too little, too late, as the Turkish team wrapped things up to clinch a 2-0 victory and secure a place in the $150,000 tournament.

i donk think SL is a consolation for minor. if they cant be one of eight teams who qualify from 16. it will be huge failure. nothing can cover it.
