compLexity & NRG qualify for Americas Minor
compLexity and NRG are the first teams to book spots at the Americas Minor via the North American qualifier after winning three matches in a row.
The first three rounds of the Swiss stage saw a handful of upsets, led by Immortals being on the verge of elimination after losing to SoaR. The PGL Major Krakow runners-up then bounced back with victories over CLG Academy and Splyce, and will fight for a spot at the Minor in the final round of the Swiss stage, featuring teams with a 2-1 record.
Complexity became the first team to qualify for the Americas Minor after defeating Rise Nation 16-10 in the third Swiss round. Prior to that match, Alec "Slemmy" White's men had defeated FRENCH CANADIANS and Tempo Storm.
NRG were the second team to secure a perfect 3-0 record in the qualifier. The North American team, who are currently trying out Dylan "RIKO" Sabin-Arnce, moved past Beacon, Gale Force and Luminosity to ensure a second straight appearance at a Minor.
ESL Pro League side Ghost were denied a spot at the Minor after just two matches as they were downed by Tempo Storm and Rogue, while Sean "seang@res" Gares's Misfits were standing on the edge of a cliff but live to fight another day after overcoming a whopping 11-0 deficit against Tempo Storm.
The team list for the Americas Minor, taking place from November 2-5 in Toronto, currently looks as follows:
