Misfits secure Americas Minor last-chance spot

Misfits have secured a spot at the Americas Minor after winning series against Immortals and SoaR in the last-chance qualifier, replacing FRENCH CANADIANS who dropped out due to visa issues.

Earlier this week, FRENCH CANADIANS revealed they would not be able to participate in the Americas Minor due to visa issues, supposedly on Mert "REOVA" Bayrak's part as the only non-Canadian player on the team.

To find a replacement, a three-way last-chance qualifier was organized with Misfits, Immortals, and SoaR, all of whom finished 2-2 in the Swiss closed qualifier.

Misfits replace FRENCH CANADIANS after the last-chance qualifier

Sean "seang@res" Gares' men secured the spot after first defeating the Brazilian side 2-1 (Cache 16-12, Inferno 9-16, Mirage 16-8), before sweeping SoaR 2-0 (Overpass 16-6, Nuke 16-14).

With Misfits filling up the last spot, the following eight teams will take part in the Americas Minor from November 2-5 in Toronto, Canada:

United States CLG United States Liquid
United States Complexity  United States NRG
Brazil Luminosity Canada Rise Nation
United States Misfits Brazil TeamOne

But for the Immortals organisation, winning is just one piece of a much more important and broader puzzle. "It is less about the end result and it is more about the process, the inputs that go into winning: the hard work, the dedication, the sacrifice and the discipline that create champions, not the championship itself. Just rip immortals, go from major finalists to not even getting into the minor
2017-10-20 11:08
Actually rip the org, 3 Kng, Hen1 and Lucas have their spot if they sign another org, Boltz is with SK (Though maybe he cant play this major because of that minor playing rule)... So its just rip steel and the org

Yea and if Kng, HEN1, LUCAS1, bit and fnx actually play with the team they've formed recently, they will have a major spot. But R.I.P. IMT indeed.

SK is tier3 these days anyways.. so nobody cares :DD
2017-10-20 15:25
why would they have to sign with another org? all they need is 2 ppl willing to play and come up with a logo for valve to put on the stickers. as long as they have the money for the trip and can get visas on their own, they don't need any org.
2017-10-20 12:13
I see, actually I meant more like a "team" than org, they need to become a team to use their spot...

Well, at least they've advanced in something. They get into the minor but get eliminated from worlds at the same time, feelsbadman.

Tbh Misfits just won game 2 against SKT, it's a HUUUUUUUUUUUGE success for the team and for the org aswell.
2017-10-20 11:43
Of course, but SKT will still win. SKT weren't ready for blitz, it's not a common pick in the LCK and it hasn't been since season 3/4 when Mata reigned supreme on it. Blitz ban out now and even though I like misfits, I doubt they'll be able to take another win. That being said, a lot of investment will come into their org because of this, they get a lot out of taking that one map.

Well, right now the series is 2-2. I still think that skt is going to take it, but you have to admit that for the misfits org this is a huge boost for publicity/fans/whatever. Even making worlds is important, let alone being a EULCS rookie and bringing SKT to the fifth game :D Misfits' owner must be very happy.
2017-10-20 13:43
Yeah. I'm sure they're happy but you'd be surprised. Misfits had two easy chances to take that last game, that dive was completely unnecessary and they could have EASILY taken an inhib off that to keep their 5k gold lead and momentum. You can be happy but you also have to criticize yourself for throwing away such an easy near win situation.

This is sick, been watching Mistifts over the season, they look shaky at times but pretty good overall. Wouldn't mind seeing them at the Major.
2017-10-20 15:59
rip IMT
2017-10-20 17:32
Rip steel, as he IGL'ed for his team and brought them to a major final, then he looses his major spot, and now his qualifying spot he could have won. But honestly wouldn't mind seeing Sean Gares lead his true team of "Misfits" to the major, as he still is one of the great counter strike geniouses
