Renegades win SL i-League Invitational Shanghai 2017 over Virtus.pro

Renegades have won SL i-League Invitational Shanghai 2017 after beating Virtus.pro 2-0 in the grand final (16-8 on Mirage and 16-10 on Train).

The grand final started on Mirage where the Polish team were on the CT-side in the first half. Janusz "Snax" Pogorzelski's triple kill in the pistol round gave the lead to Virtus.pro and the Poles went on to pick up the anti-ecos to lead 3-0.

Renegades hit back in the first weapon round by winning a 3vs4 and later tied the game at 3-3. Justin "jks" Savage & company were in control for the rest of the half and led 9-6 at halftime.

Renegades became the champions in Shanghai

Virtus.pro grabbed the pistol round victory on the T-side but they couldn't go on to tie the game as they lost the third round of the half. Renegades put on an impressive CT-side performance and won seven rounds in a row to win the map 16-8.

Train kicked off with Renegades on the T-side. Aaron "AZR" Ward's team won the first three rounds but lost the fourth one (3-1). Noah "Nifty" Francis clutched a 1vs2 to respond and later Karlo "USTILO" Pivac clutched a 1vs3 to extend his team's lead to 6-1.

Virtus.pro have lost back-to-back grand finals

Just when Virtus.pro were mounting a comeback (7-5), Nifty got a quad kill to give Renegades their eighth round. USTILO's quad kill in the fifteenth round made it 10-5 in favor of Renegades at halftime.

USTILO & company won the first three rounds in the second half to make it 13-5 but Virtus.pro replied in the first weapon round (13-6). Virtus.pro couldn't get close to Renegades even though the Poles won five rounds in a row. Renegades won the map 16-10 and the series 2-0 to become the SL i-League Invitational Shanghai champions.

2017-11-05 13:12
It's a team effort. They are a very strong team and I hope they make the major. I think they could be one of the teams to pull a BIG style upset and make playoffs at the Major.
2017-11-05 14:14
It is indeed an overall team effort and all of them played well. However, it cannot be ignored that this team only really managed to reached this heights after making a great deal by acquiring both Nifty and NAF. These 2 players have helped the team boosted their overall performance and are normally the ones who manage to clutch out rounds and frequently top the scoreboard.
2017-11-05 14:21
Ye so talk about how great the players are rather than making it about region.
2017-11-05 14:22
Typed that in less than a few seconds... but was too slow for top spot. :| On another note, I'm pretty excited to see this team in the qualifiers and hopefully they make it to Boston. Not since Cologne 2015 had an Aussie team made to a major. AUSSIE AUSSIE AUSSIE!

let's face the straight facts. Renegades won 75k if you divide it through 5 you are earning 15000$ for each player and that just under the circumstances if they players get the full price fee. the organization, the coach and taxes are not even included. Thats my guess. VP gained confidence second final in a row, but a win wouldn't be even remembered due the teams they played against. (and atleast they have beaten the team that has won the tournament 2-0 aswell and heroic which they had problem earlier in this year, also with 2-0) so not even a big of a lose for this team, yeah they were supposed to win, but they directly came from russia unprepared (and that was seen in the firs series vs flash. really close bo3. so nothing bad happend to VP. RN were just the better team based on their dailyform

So I guess EPICENTER was just a one-off fluke for VP and that they aren't actually back. That's too bad, I was looking forward to the return of the plow :(
2017-11-05 15:30
let's face the straight facts. Renegades won 75k if you divide it through 5 you are earning 15000$ for each player and that just under the circumstances if they players get the full price fee. the organization, the coach and taxes are not even included and VP's players are earning 25k per month xD.
2017-11-05 15:50
I agree to an extent, but when you're just just coming off of three BO3 wins against GMT, FaZe, and G2.. there's sort of an expectation to not falter to a bunch of tier 2-4 teams regardless of preparation. Against teams in the top 10, preparation only takes you so far a majority of the time.
2017-11-05 15:55
Oh, and also taking SK to five maps in a BO5 as well

RNG hard carried by NA. lul kappa. But in all honesty Nifty is finally reaching his potential. Renegades still have little tactics but NaF gave them good firepower. Epicenter seems more and more rigged everyday.
