Liquid took down OpTic on Mirage (16-9) to move on to the playoffs of iBUYPOWER Masters 2017.

Group B of iBUYPOWER Masters saw OpTic edge out CLG in the opening match, while Liquid managed a huge comeback against Misfits to move on to the winner's match of the tournament in Santa Ana. Meanwhile, Misfits and CLG played for their tournament lives, with Sean "seang@res" Gares's side ending on top in the matchup.

Twistzz was on point against OpTic

OpTic lost the CT pistol at the beginning of Mirage, but managed to get the crucial first buy, retaking the site in a 4v5. Following up that round win with another one (3-2) saw Liquid forced on an eco, but OpTic fumbled against the pistols and that swung the momentum the way of the North Americans.

It was 8-2 before OpTic could afford a full buy again, they got the first three kills in the round, leveraging their double-AWP, but another blunder followed, as Russel "Twistzz" Van Dulken and Jonathan "EliGE" Jablonowski recovered the round from a 2v5 deficit. The 17-year-old Canadian continued plowing through the deflated OpTic defenses for the rest of the half, passing 20 kills on the T side that his team finished with a 12-3 lead.

Adam "friberg" Friberg and co. went for a B explosion on the pistol and it paid off, starting the European side's comeback. Nick "nitr0" Cannella's team opted for a conservative approach, not forcing buys, which allowed OpTic to reach nine rounds more easily (12-9). Committing to a stacked B site against Liquid's first force buy in the game ended up costing Óscar "mixwell" Cañellas and co., Liquid built on that and managed to close out the game straight out, with a 16-9 scoreline.

This is very good! If Optic was using advantages of Liquid fatigue, then Liquid playing vs Misfits, again... For Liquid it a long day. Congratulations to Liquid! It was a well-deserved victory.

HLTV FOUKED MY COMMENT

Yea probably. Fun fact east to west jet lag is only like half as much painful than west to east travel. They'll feel the real pain when they go back home. Flying from EU to west cost can be really painful.

Next OpTic is up against Misfits so very likely it'll be the end of their tournament. They can't LAN, giving 13 rounds to CLG is a clear indication of that.
2017-11-12 11:13
I doubt its because "they can't LAN". All of their roster has been to LANs frequently. When its like this, its more likely to be a tilting/mounting pressure kind of thing.
2017-11-12 11:29
That's what I kinda meant. They, at least at times, have played very good online but their LAN performance is lacking bad. Who knows why exactly.
