Renegades beat OpTic as Nifty shines; to iBP Masters grand final

Renegades are the first grand finalists of iBUYPOWER Masters 2017 after defeating OpTic 2-0 (16-7 on both Cache and Overpass).

The first semi-final of iBUYPOWER Masters 2017 kicked off on Renegades' map pick, Cache, with OpTic getting off to a 5-0 lead after picking up the CT pistol. Still, the following round marked the beginning of a turnaround from Renegades, who would win six in a row without response.

Despite the European mixture equalizing the score, Noah "Nifty" Francis's men reset OpTic's economy with a flawless A execution, and followed that up with the next two rounds to grab a 9-6 half-time lead.

Karlo "USTILO" Pivac started off the second half with a quad-kill, opening a way for his team to secure a 12-6 score. From that point, even though OpTic won the following round, Renegades would fairly easily finish off Cache, 16-7.

Nifty was one of Renegades' key figures

Contrary to the previous map, it were Renegades who quickly bagged a 5-0 lead on Overpass. It was only in the eighth round that Adam "friberg" Friberg's men managed to get a foothold in the game, but they could not string more than four rounds together.

OpTic were only able to get back to the game in the last round of the half. Despite losing the second pistol, Renegades continued to shut down their opponents' hopes, locking down the map, 16-7, thanks to back-to-back multi-kills from Nifty in the last two rounds.

2017-11-12 23:36
Not how it works. Australia always claims everything as its own. See: Russell Crowe, pavlova, and East Timor's government.

60% of RNG is still Australian, now tell me how many North Americans there are in SK. Exactly. That's why RNG remains as an AU team.
2017-11-12 23:50
3/5 are Australian, that's enough for us to claim it.

This team is starting to perform well though
2017-11-12 23:46
RNG beat C9 and Optic, two of the biggest teams in this tournament. Is that not good enough to consider Renegades as at least top 3 NA (not including Brazilians)?

And vp 2-0 in finals last weekend too

not yet, what they are able to achieve needs to be more consistent. But they are looking very well and on form, especially NAF and nifty.

Who cares. Au population is too tiny to harbour much talent.
2017-11-13 01:56
Not the population, an under-developed and poorly funded scene is the main thing.
2017-11-13 02:15
Allu always topfragging when they lose. Coincidence? I arent think that

-Ska + Nifty
2017-11-12 23:20
No thanks. We'll keep him.
2017-11-13 00:10
Why would Nifty go to a worse team?
2017-11-13 03:44
2017-11-13 05:49
Nifty always comes up huge in the high pressure games- 1.5 rating vs VP in finals and 1.8 vs OpTic in semis. Balls of steel and so much confidence for such a young player

Strong wins on two maps that are far from our favourites (particularly Overpass), NAF and Nifty are fantastic, and at least two of the three Aussie boys are playing well in each game. I've never 'yeah the boys'-ed so hard in my life

Ohhhhh man. To easy for Renegades. They are for real. Online play is trash, and finally they show up on LAN. Cloud9 is a decent team, Optic i think are trash but still. Top 2 NA as of now.
2017-11-12 23:57
Renegades are getting there.. ustilo/jks need to.step it up a bit tho.. azr's performing...other two are slumped..
2017-11-12 23:58
Its the other way around lol. Even though azr has good impact frags hes usually bottom fragging while jks has put up big performances

2017-11-13 00:10
NA carrying AU
2017-11-13 01:10
Oh please, everyone's just a little mad that 3 Aussies are set to become some of the best players in NA if they keep up this performance.
2017-11-13 01:26
Yeah, I'm just kidding around since people do that when an EU player "carries" a NA team.

LULtic gaming. When are they going to realize that HS is washed up, and that Allu doesn’t work as an aggressive awper? Not to mention that Magisk and that SG.. It might work against mediocre teams like botfits, but cmon, not against a team that knows Wtf they are doing.
