G2 beat Liquid, Renegades crush OpTic in Burbank

In the next-to-last round of Group B, G2 kept their chances in the tournament alive with a 16-9 win over Liquid on Cache, while Renegades beat down OpTic 16-6 on Mirage.

In the next-to-last round of Group B's round robin, Liquid started off well in their match against G2 with three rounds to their name as Terrorists following a pistol round win.

Despite some of the gunrounds going back and forth, the Frenchmen won the crucial ones to break their opponents' economy. After only four full buys on both sides, G2 were up 7-5 before Liquid closed the half with the remaining three rounds.

G2 stay alive in the tournament for the time being

With their first pistol round win in the tournament, G2 retook the lead and extended it to 12-8 soon afterward. Liquid grabbed the next gunround without losing any players, but Richard "shox" Papillon & co. sent them on low economy after stringing two together for 14-9.

Forced to buy up pistols and armor, Liquid stacked A correctly but lost the last two fights with little time left, and G2 grabbed a lifeline in the tournament shortly afterward with a 16-9 win.

On the other side, Renegades got off to an amazing start on Mirage, grabbing the pistol and the first two gunrounds for a 6-0 lead on the offense. OpTic then had a chance to get on the board, but Noah "Nifty" Francis's quad-kill in a 3v5 situation turned it around as Renegades ran away with four more rounds.

A close retake situation then finally gave the European squad their first, with two more going their way before the half ended as Kevin "HS" Tarn clutched a 1v3 and Emil "Magisk" Reif got a triple of his own.

Renegades edge closer to playoffs with a win over OpTic

As Nifty's men secured the second pistol round as well, it was only a matter of time before they locked their second victory in the round robin. OpTic held on for a short while but ultimately faced defeat at 16-6.

It's a team effort, Naf is useless without Ustilo and AZR entrying and Jks always plays well / breaks even
2017-11-16 09:18
Jks since the NAF join hasn't been as good as prior. USTILO and AZR are both majorly inconsistent as well But the whole team is still somehow looking a lot better. Nifty and NAF the saviours of AU cs? ;)
2017-11-16 10:45
The JKS thing is ture. AZR yes. but of the last month, USTILO has been nutty. Dropped a 40 bomb. plus all of his insane 1vX plays. AZR and JKS do need to play better though. But still, a new young IGL in Nifty and a pretty new team. Give them another 3 months and they'll be 100% better then this, which i already pretty good.
2017-11-17 12:02
3 months isnt always a good thing. Some teams stagnate by then and are already dropping, and i think Renegades may be one of those teams. One of the biggest reasons behind their recent increase in form will be due to the high amount of tournaments they've been competing in. Come December, player break starts up until the major and then for a while afterwards. Rng then go back to scrims and online matches where they've stagnated for so long now
2017-11-17 12:16
I feel you on that, but well see. It's all we can do. Unless we die, then we can't wait.

Renegods Edit: OpTiC going to regret letting NAF go - last 3 maps they played against each other were 16-7, 16-7 and 16-6 and NAF has had 62 kills.
2017-11-16 02:44
imagen if Mixwell left OpTic and JKS+Nifty went to Optic with Naf, Tarik and Rush. that team would be fucking beast.

They did not let him go, NAF didn’t want to be a part of the EU Optic lineup.

What he meant is he should've built the lineup around rush tarik and NAF instead of picking eu lineup that's all ;)

no surprise that renegades crushed optic. they are too new and shitty right now. honestly they may never get good but who knows i guess. i'm 99% sure optic wouldn't have even beat liquid if they were still using stanislaw
2017-11-16 03:02
optic kicked NAF to bring in HS OMEGALUL
2017-11-16 03:08
They didn't really "kick" him. He knew OpTic was going to an all EU lineup and was already preparing to leave. He just played with them until they got their full lineup.
